Side note.....I think quite possibly we have the best mix of instructors I have ever seen in this class. Capt. Ferguson (Greenville, Director) Lt. Van Voorhies (White Plains, Executive Officer) Capt. Dempsey (Eastchester) DC Gerardi (Fairview) FFPM MacPherson (Peekskill, Scottish) and everybody else that's pitching in to give us a solid foundation....and most important, we have a class of 37 awesome probies who are quickly developing into one big family! The best firefighters to ever come out of that academy will graduate December 16th. I'm so proud to have my name listed there!

I'm sure the page will be updated with more photos as our adventures progress....hopefully with more of Squad 1!!!!!

I think you have me confused with the other me.....that is my other personality that is a member of Probie Class 03-2005

Eeek! Being that it is quite hard for me to shut my mouth or stop typing sometimes....

Up the homework, and take us to Aruba with you! :D Just don't up the homework of my classmates or I am not going to make it back from the road run!!! I'll even do a paper!!

And on a related note:

We had a very inspirational visit from a good friend of Capt. Ferguson -Capt. George Burk (USAF-Ret) this week, which I will share with you all later this week, and we are traveling to the NYS Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Albany on Tuesday, both thanks to Capt. Ferguson and associates, who are not just teaching us how to fight fires, but teaching us how to have the spirit to be true firefighters.

Now, for all those who think I may be brown nosing, I really could care less. I really don't hold back with my feelings. I am passionate about anything I believe in, whether it be myself, LAFD, jetBlue, etc....many of you who know me know this well. Therefore, I love my class, I love the fellow probies that I am experiencing this class with, and I love my instructors....who I hope to be half as good as they are at some point. So, me saying these things shouldn't be percieved as sucking up, just me saying how I feel about everything.

I wish I had kept a blog of my experiences starting with Day 1 so I could have elaborated more on my highs...and lows during class and during a time where I am living my dream, overcoming challenges, and becoming a firefighter.

Just remember ther will be a test the day I return to class!!! I will be thinking about all my probies while I am on the beach in Aruba---yea right!!! somewhere between the beach, the pool, the tiki hut and the casino.

enjoy the week with LTVan Voorhies and D/C Gerardi if thats possible. make sure you look at the memorial in Albany and remember all the survival skills.

Good luck on your monday test. To all keep up the great work you are doing.

Seth,

Did you meet any Elsmere guys while you were up here in Smallbany? They went down there for Kevin Shea. I tried to go, but had school and my parents felt that was just a lame excuse to skip school. I truly wanted to go and honor our fallen brothers, but I couldn't.

Hope you are having a fun and safe time. Good Luck!

The photos were taken after a majority of the cleanup work was done, and we were packing up to go home.....long after the training evolutions were done (notice no photos of that)

Capt. Ferguson packs our day with plenty of activities, especially these past couple of weeks. It didn't take that long timewise at all for a few of us to grab the camera, after getting permission and giving many thanks, and snap some pics right before the day was done.....got to have some fun/camraderie and document the beginning of awesome careers after a long week of learning!

The only reason I posted the photos was to show off the class I am so proud to be a part of and for everyone involved and with an interest regarding 03-2005 to enjoy....

They were plenty busy all day, and plenty tired at the end of the day. Academy director Ferguson was in charge of photography yesterday.

Great job yesterday, guys. Keep up the intensity.

Hey its all a team effort and I owe to you for allowing me to be a part of it all. I didn't mean to make it sound like you were just taking pictures...your always thinking 5 steps ahead of your staff and that is why we are going to produce a strong product for each probie's respective department.

At least for once there is pics without louie in them.

Photos of our trip to the airport today have been posted on EMTBravo.com

I can't believe we are in our 9th week, with 23 class days left!!! Exciting, but sad in a way...I will miss all involved a lot...weekends are bad enough! But savoring ery day.... Many things continue to be learned and developed.

The class is currently preparing for our CPAT test, which is scheduled for one week from this Friday. Everybody is doing excellent during the second round of practice CPATs currently underway, with the average probie bringing their time down from last weeks first round of practice by 20 seconds or more.

Tommorow, Squads 1,3,5 go with LV2 to White Plains burn building, and Squads 2,4,6 are going with Capt. Ferguson and Capt. Dempsey to Scarsdale.
