a individual is a patient when
    1. the person requests medial assistance (direct request)
    2. a 3rd party requests medical assistance for an individual at their request (informed request)
    3. a 3rd party requests medical assistance for an individual who can not request on their own (unresponsive, altered,) (implied request)

To clarify. The County did not refuse to dispatch the METU. I requested it and was advised through the proper dispatch procedure that the vehicle was not yet placed in service and that it was not available. This is no different than any other fire apparatus or ambulance. The County did coordinate the dispatch of two Bee Line buses in its place. Many of you need to climb out of your glass house and visit the real world. Stop posting and spreading rumors before knowing the facts.

No but the family of the person who is cardiac arrest might. And given that survival rates for cardiac arrest are not great (getting better). Looking and acting like a professional regardless of compensation goes along way in the overall delivery of care to both the patient and family

Just one point that should be considered. The "duties" will need to be taken care of but it should be remembered that you can delegate the task or duties but you can not delegate the responsibility for the task or duty. That being said if Moose were to remain as a Captain performing the "tasks or duties" of a chief the ultimate responsibility for those "delegated "duties" would fall to the Chief not the Captain
Thank you for correctly articulating the point I was trying to make. I am on the small screen of a phone.

Yes responsibility will have have to be divvied up and the next officer down would be doing some or all of the duties of the next in line after the chief. But in my history when the actual position is still left vacant it allows you to find a qualified person. Unfortunately when positions are just filled for the sake of filling them ( I am in No Way saying your an "empty Shirt"). That organizations tend follow the same concept and before you know it or want it will become chief. Now is the time for your organization to take a good hard look at itself and think of the next 3-5 years short term and 10-15 years longer term not tomorrow

Sprung hill is still in the same boat as other volunteer corps. They pay 2 crews from 0700-1900 M-F

Well the first thing is to always treat your patient not a machine. I would get a good history while determining if the patient is symptomatic or asymptomatic, determine if the patient is a smoker as a 2 pack a day smoker could have a COHB level baseline of up to 15. I going to assume that we are a BLS unit? if so 100% O2 monitor vitals I am also glad you made mention of it being a co monitor. as we all know that pulse ox monitors the saturation of hemoglobin and using it alone will give you a false reading of O2 sat. sorry for the slight rant. I would confer with the FD to see where the high concentration levels of CO where in the house and the proximity of those high levels to the living space of the patients. asymptomatic patients transport to ED on 100% O2 with constant vitals. symptomatic patients 100% O2 to hospital with hyperbaric treatment and ALS for advanced mon. as ST changes are very possible.
just my 2 cents feel free to correct anything I have written. always good to learn
