Agreed. But what is truly achieved when it is aired out on a public forum? We all know we have room to improve, but when we specifically call out certain agencies or certain incidents we go against what the original intent of this forum was! When Seth started this forum we could talk tactics and ways to improve things without hating on one agency or a call. Now it's a free for all where everytime a photo is posted, it gets criticized. When an Incident Alert is posted, times are questioned.
If you really want to question something, ask those involved. Airing it out for all to see is a HUGE MISTAKE! People are going to get in trouble, the press is going to print things that are hurtful and non-constructive, and the public is going to think we're all a bunch of cry babies!
Bring back the old EMTBravo.net where we would praise in public, and insult/question eachother in private!
It's bad enough that morons go on Facebook, Twitter, etc. airing out departmental issues, insulting other departments, etc. We're all suppost to be BROTHERS - grow up and speak to those you have an issue with, don't air out your dirty laundry for everyone to see! I'm tired of seeing guys getting their rocks off by seeing others look bad.
I was one of the original members here, I check it more than once a day and try to always be positive. But over the past couple of months I find myself losing interest. Let's put aside the BS and actually offer constructive criticism without the finger-pointing.
Life is stressful enough, we don't need another avenue of disappointment.
  6. FF398 liked a post in a topic by 1075thebox in What is going on in Croton?
Ironically, Croton EMS had two calls at the same time, at the same place around 12:30 this morning. They covered both, then went on to cover one for Peekskill and one for Mohegan.
The system is flawed, not so much one agency.
  7. 1075thebox liked a post in a topic by Bnechis in Residents Say FD was Delayed at Town of Mamaroneck Blaze
I noticed a few of those complaining were on the fire escape in the rear (exposure #3?). The IC requested VMFD Ladder to the rear to assist those people. While they got there fast, they were the 3rd due truck and were not dispatched until the IC was on scene. These victims could not see the TMFD was already onscene attacking the fire. They might not have been happy or comfortable but they were relativly safe. I'd strongly question 20 minutes, but wouldnot be surprised if it was more than 10 from the time they realized that their was a fire and the time that VMFDs ladder was at exposure #3.
The issue of "where do we live" plages many communities. There are sections of New Rochelle that swear they are in Scarsdale, same for parts of Greenburgh. Crestwood & Bronxville P.O. in Yonkers the same and this is true for many other areas. I've been at calls where home owners yell at us: "where is Scarsdale FD"? We tell them in Scarsdale, this property is a 1/2 mile from the border and they refuse to believe it. Even after they admit to paying taxes to NR and sending their kids to NR schools.
This fire had the potential for a major loss of life. TMFD and the MA depts. did a great job.

Thank you sir for your reply. What I find interesting is that it seems like in spite of a incident that makes the emergency services look good and praises one person in particular, people are intent on trying to down play what transpired there. The only people who know exactly what the conditions were, how endangered the occupants were, and what risks were taken, were the medic, the cop, and the occupants themselves. Many people who were not there tend to down play what happened because they were not there and they wonder how they would have reacted if faced with a similar situation.
