Like most regulations concerning firearms, they don't make sense. They are often put into place based on the science of emotion and gimmicks, not for any real crime reducing purpose.

If the barrel is less than 16" AND you have a buttstock, that is a short barrel rifle (SBR). That is legal (in some free states) so long as you pay the $200 tax and register it with the ATF under the guidelines of the National Firearms Act (NFA). This is the same act that regulates silencers/suppressors and fully automatic or select fire firearms.
Without the buttstock, it is a pistol if the barrel is less than 16". Which again, is only legal in free states, not the Empire of NY.
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

This only applies to the "green tip" M855/SS109 projectile in the 5.56mm cartridge. These are a 62gr, steel core, jacketed projectile otherwise known as "light armor piercing" or "penetrator" rounds.
This all stems from legislation from 1986 banning the use of "armor piercing" ammunition in handguns. Since you can now build/buy an AR type handgun (in some free states, NOT NY), that now places this ammo into that catagory.
This ammo was previously exempted from the ban on AP rounds, but because you can now use it in a handgun, the ATF is seeking to remove the exemption.
It does not "threaten" the AR as such. Most of the ammunition used in these is the 55gr lead core. That is by far the cheapest and most produced type.
And yes, AR type rifles can be had in nearly every commercially produced caliber and numerous "wildcat" cartridges. .223/5.56 and .308/7.62 being the most common.

You did well, Sir. Rest in peace.

From the news reports, the weather channel, and the politicians, you'd think that snow in the winter was some unusual event that we hadn't seen before. It's winter people ! It's GOING TO SNOW! And be COLD. That's what happens in the winter.

Yeah, yeah. Sent my son a pic of Saturday's snow (he's in Flagler Beach/Palm Coast). He sends me back a pic of the back deck with the beach and ocean in the background. Little S@#T!

Really? Not from where I sit. Do I miss the fresh white blanket of snow draping the pine trees and homogenizing the landscape? NO!

I know of some departments that respond RLS to stand by cverage and I don't know why. I certainly don't think any reasonable person could say that it was a true emergency. But probably half the calls we respond to aren't true emergencies that wuld require or warrent RLS.
Questionable insurance filings aside, if you blow through a red light responding to a stand by, you should be ticketed.

On the evening of November 10th, 1918, General John J. Pershing – overall commander of the American Expeditionary Force in France – issued out his orders for the next day. They were for continued and unrelenting attack throughout the American sector of the line. Though the announcement had already been made to all units that a Cease Fire was to take effect at 11:00 am that following day, few had faith in its realities; General Pershing included. History tells us, however, that on that momentous day – at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month – the guns did indeed fall silent for the first time in four years and four months. With that general armistice of hostilities, the First World War effectively drew to a conclusion. It had cost some 13 million lives, the greatest tragedy the world had yet seen, and it made a permanent mark on the generation that had experienced it.

In 1938, Armistice Day, as it was then called, became an official U.S. National holiday. However, the 11th of November had been traditionally honored the world over ever since the first anniversary of peace following the war in 1919, and recognized by our Federal Government as early as 1925. It was the fashion in those days that at 11:00 am, no matter where you were, everything would cease at that hour for one fill minute of silence, when everyone’s thoughts would turn to the sacrifices made by our men overseas during the ‘Great War’. All traffic lights in cities would go red; telephones would stop ringing; radio stations would fall silent. For that minute at least, once a year we all came together as a nation to remember.

I don't know about district policies, but for myself, I will buy "Made in America" over foreign sourced whenever possible. This is especially true when I buy tools. It makes sense to me to pay twice as much for USA rather than China, etc and end up having to replace it often.

Winona Lake was responding to the mva (originally dispatched as head-on with entrapment) when Air Guard was dispatched to City of Newburgh. The accident was on 17K @ the Air Guard entrance. They came up on it and remained on scene as Winona Lake arrived about 1 minute later. It was actually 3 vehicles, no head on, no entrapment. Two were transported BLS to St Lukes.

Anything would be better than our last build where the chiefs were given almost zero input and some old guys who haven't seen a fire or been on any apparatus in God knows how long were the ones to write the specs. We (eventually) will be getting a lot of stuff we don't need and some stuff we do need in a nearly un-workable package.

From the governor down, the highest (state) goverment officials operate "contrary to state law" , not to mention the state and US constitution. Do you honestly think they care about whether or not a particular ambulance in their prince's parade has the proper piece of paper?

Not to get too far off topic, but I don't know how they can sell that stuff. To me it seems like they are inviting a lawsuit. I predominately work with Gas Tite branded CSST and my supplier won't sell it unless you show your certification card. You have to take a class from the mfr's rep.
I know with natural gas the aging infrastructure is a significant problem. In my work however, it is mostly Johnny Fix It that causes the problems. I'm surprised that more people do not blow themselves up.
