As of 0000hrs 1/1/12, Dutchess 911 is now dispatching the agency as Care1 EMS, no longer Hudson Valley Paramedics. This will only affect 2nd calls in the district during contracted hours, as the dedicated unit is still called 56-79. After contract hours, Mobile Life Support has been chosen by PVFD as the ALS provider.

I think 'some' people misinterpret my simple statement that DC911 will now officially be calling it Care1 EMS, as a shot at the company, when it is no such thing. There was simply a question back in November why they were not calling them that. IIRC, it was still 'in the works' for the OFFICIAL name change to take place, through whatever applications were made, I am sure with DoH, and any other entities. Can't just wake up and decide to change your company's name and it happens right then and there.
Also, in reference to the contract held by PVFD, the CONTRACT was decided by, and signed BY the TOWN itself, NOT the FD. Since those hours for contracted coverage were decided by the town, it said nothing about who HAD to provide coverage after that time. I will not speculate into how pleased/displeased PVFD was by the off-hours service, but word was passed onto the dispatch agency that MLSS would be dispatched during the non-contracted hours.
I should also clarify that the Care1 EMS will also be dispatched as they normally would in order of preference by agencies that use commercial agencies for transports (i.e. correctional facilities), and any mutual aid, NOT just as multiple calls in PVFD area.
I fail to see how stating this is so terrible. **shrugs**

Kid, just listen to the chief.
I appreciate that you like fire trucks. I like fire trucks too. I like getting paid to ride on them and I like looking at pictures of them on Emtbravo. I also appreciate that you're new. I was once new as well, in fact it wasn't that long ago. Someday, you might be sitting in a fire truck and look around the cab of the big fancy engine they bought you and see a 65 year old man driving and a 80 year old fire police in the back. Or you might be fortunate enough to get on a paid job and have one other guy with you or you might even be by yourself. And you will not care how many red trucks are coming but rather what the hell are you going to do with what you've got.

Everything is fine! Stop playing word games by describing it word for word Nathan! Company is great success, yes?

Nathan's post was in English and stated the same facts that yours did. There were no word games, as you call them.

    Members-
At 00:01 hrs on January 1st, 2012, EMTBravo.COM , the site that spawned these forums, and is now the portal to this site, EMTBravo.com was launched.
EMTBravo.com went live at midnight on January 1st, 2003,as a very small personal site for me to share my photos and information that people used to tell and send me. The site's name was based on my AOL username, and I can not recollect how I came up with the screen name "EMTBravo", as I came up with it in the mid to late 90's. Although I pondered changing the name a few times, EMTBravo has become a brand name, of sorts.
From the very point it was launched, the site- thanks to an awesome and incredible staff and membership, and the support of many- this site has grown to where it is today. I like to describe it as a "snowball effect".
I'd like to thank everybody for all their support with their site, I really do enjoy being a part of it. I can't believe it's been 9 years already....where does the time go? From our amazing, hard working staff, to our members who generously donate, and advertisers who help fund us, to the members who share and contribute their knowledge, opininions and information on this forum.....I thank you again for making EMTBravo.COM what it is today.

Just having a law doesn't mean people are going to comply. We can only hope (and pray) that they do.
How long have there been seat belt laws, and people are still getting killed or ejected from vehicles involved in an accident because they don't buckle-up.
Or how about those pesky hands free cellphone use, or texting-while-driving laws?
Or, how about this one, drunk driving?
People are still dying in fires, from smoke and CO, despite laws requiring detectors.

When I used to volunteer upstate I got pulled over by a sheriff deputy while responding to an apartment fire with people trapped:
Officer (as he approaches my window): "I hear you got a scanner in there."
    Me: "It's my pager."
    Officer: "What are you doing?"
Me: "I'm going to a fire."
    Officer: "Where is the fire?"
Me (pointing to the orange glow in the sky): "There."
  22. xfirefighter484x liked a post in a topic by JetPhoto in Why Cancel AFA's?
From a volunteer view, If I have "the time" to run out for a AFA that could be a fire I most likely don't have the time to then to sit and train. If I am an employer letting a worker run out for a legitimate call I don't want the person to then say well since I'm out I might as well train. If it's not an emergency then I should be back at work or at home with family I don't have much time to see.
Set a drill up and I'll show up, where I am able to make the time for that event. If I'm the home owner / business I don't want you climbing roofs ect if it's not necessary. Think of the possible damage and the fact that an apparatus sitting out side of the business does not look good to customers.
  23. xfirefighter484x liked a post in a topic by Bnechis in Why Cancel AFA's?
AFA are not always False Alarms. This is a big mistake in termonology.
A false Alarm is when there is no legit reason for the alarm. Smoke from cooking (burn popcorn in microwave), steam from the shower, dust from workers, candles, etc. The system did what it was designed to do, so its not a false alarm, its an accidental or unintentional alarm.
It is important that the public understands this so they do not ignor alarms in the future.

No life hazard. Clear the area, let it burn , extinguish remaining fire on the ground once the pole no longer has a falling debris issue. Call in the utility who owns it to do any elevated stabilization and or final extinguishment.
