So based on that you should not boil water in the back of your Type I, II or III ambulance before flipping it over and dunking it in water.

It amazes me that everyone has a hand out looking for more taxpayer dollars for their benefit.
If the construction of the bridge poses such a big risk and requires special resources the state should contract them for the duration of the event. Have the USCG put a boat there. Buying a boat for Tarrytown just passes their burden on to others.

How about this, how many of you are up for mandatory drug tests for all members? And at random? You want people to inject themselves with a what if? Then you should all be willing to accept a drug test.

Exactly the point that I was trying to make, and some missed it.

    Maybe someone can enlighten me.
As soon as the individual mandate becomes effective and an individual is required to buy the insurance, won't that person, and the thousands or millions of others, in kind, be able to sue for relief under the Constitutions equal protection clause since so many other thousands of individuals have been granted waivers or special consideration.
Don't all these waivers to certain unions and groups and Congress members and their staffs and families violate the equal protection clause?
And I am still fuzzy on the President, acting on his own or through his agency heads, can arbitrarily adjust the provisions of the law with regard to the timetable of the laws implementation. When did the Executive branch receive the power to amend laws enacted by the Legislative branch?
Does the 'rule of law' no longer exist in this country any longer?

Yeah it would have made a huge difference. You would have had someone who didn't win a popularity contest actually in the position and who was trained to an exact level.

Another suggestion is a P/T Security Officer. I work p/t for Allied Barton. I like the job and the site I work at pays pretty good. I don't think you have to be 21 years old to do it. I also worked p/t for Securitas Security for several years. Maybe you can check out their web sites.
It's tough today for any younger person out there. I had a much better opportunity when I was 20 years old. I took the test for the Post Office and started p/t. Flunked out of a Community College and decided to go f/t at the post office. Five years later took the test for the Fire Dept with 87 other people for one opening. As it turned out after two years, about 10-12 of us were hired from that list. Worked 30 years, got promoted and retired with a decent pension and benefits. As it turned out, "I sure am glad I flunked out of that college".
But it's not the same today. College degrees are required more today for the same or similiar jobs. If you are interested, somebody mentioned about the FDNY/EMS. There is promotional opportunities within the system, a retirement plan and probadly some decent benefits. I think your time would count if you went to another job in NYC as a firefighter or police officer etc.
Let me say this though, a college degree does not promise a good job. In my own case, I was able to get a good job first and then do a few college courses part time. Everything worked out. But if I were you, I'd start to try and get my foot in the door for any job that will offer you some type of benefits and security. You could always improve your situtation. I have seen so many young college grads looking for work.
The medical field is usually a good choice, but you have to be willing to put the time in to get there. And we will always need plumbers, electricians, and car mechanics. How many younger people are willing to do that. But there's money to be made.
And finally I will say this. As the saying goes, "if you enjoy your work, you never work a day in your life". As a firefighter, I found that to be true and I think most others will agree. It's not just about how much money you can make. It's satisfaction in doing a job you enjoy. I find that true today in my p/t security guard job also. So with that said, I guess I haven't worked since about 1975.

The real issue is many Westchester Fire Departments do not believe they have the training, skills, equipment, manpower or leadership to rescue one of there own members or the members of another department.
Its criminal that any engine, ladder or rescue can not arrive on sceen and be assigned to be FAST.
Just another reason we need to reduce the number of depts.

Yes and why are they so high? In 90% of the US the state pays the medicaid bill. NYS mandates the counties pay for it through county tax. over 70% of the county tax goes to that alone.
60-70% of the taxes go to the school districts and at least in my districts case the voters have approved double digit increases almost every year for the past dozen years. The same taxpayers complain about how high there taxes are.
And the PARKWAYS shut down because they were all deliberatly built in flood plains, hense they all have RIVER in the name of the road (Hutchenson River Parkway, Sawmill River Parkway, Bronx River Parkway). If you "fix" them you will flood villages and peoples homes instead.
Yes we should rethink things, but everytime we suggest a change (like consolidation) everyone screams not in my city, town, village.
We need to also change the way government is structured in NY, but no one is willing to do it.

Yet westchester has the highest taxes in the country and pay nearly $7k a year more on taxes on average but every highway shuts down every rain storm. Time for westchester to rethink some things.

We stopped maintaining the grass on the medians, barely pick up the trash along the highway, stopped fixing the pot holes and bridges till they are at the total failure point and reduced police, fire & EMS responses because we can no longer afford all these things.
Its unlikely that there will ever be funding for this.

I wrote about the exact same concept in the last topic on the wrong way driver on the Tappan Zee. I have even talked to NYS Thruway Audthority. The only idea the state has is do en-large the wrong way signs, or post a overhead sign indicating wrong way/ Due to cuts in state budget cuts, this will never happen. My concern is you never heard of these type of accidents years ago, maybe 1 or 2, but never this many and it always seems to be a underlying condition of the driver. As a first responder I have seen my one too many accidents of this nature and it always seems to have impairment involved. I sure hope alcohol or drugs were not the cause of this young womans life, and thank GOD the other driver survived ( Position of Weed ), so she gets the STUPID award!
My uncle was ran over and killed onthe sidewalk of Fordam Road in the Bronx in front of my Aunt by a drunk driver. My family never recovered from this. I have 0 tolerance for Impared Drivers or Stupid Drivers.

Yes, this is absurd. But really, it shouldn't be about unions or representation. The overwhelming majority of firefighters/EMS are not members of a union, nor are our military. This is about what kind of country we have become. A country searching for loopholes to avoid responsibility, that can't distinguish right from wrong, knows no ethics, adheres to no moral code. I don't know how all these things work, I just think if you lose your life in the service of your country or community, your surviving spouse should receive your paycheck and benefits, adjusted as if you remained on the job, until he or she re-marries or takes on a permanent significant other. And, that's in addition to whatever lump sums are provided as the initial death benefit.
Same for all the military coming home missing limbs and minds. The cost of caring for these people can't be more than a rounding off of a line on a budget. Some gave some, some gave all, and they or their survivors should be compensated properly.
Thank God for programs like 'Wounded Warrier Project' and the generosity of the public. But we shouldn't need these and similar programs in this country. We should take care of those who served without reservation for as long as needed. That we need these programs is a disgrace and a national embarrassment.

Lifting would probably be your best bet to gain some mass. I have been lifting for 4 years with no supplements and have gained a decent amount of mass, but not too much for my frame.(you don't want to be too big for your body).I like to stay away from supplements as they are pumped full of crappy chemicals. DRINK WATER, its your best friend and your body needs alot of it. Try to drink a gallon a day, you will lose weight doing just this alone. Do 1 hour of cardio and 30 mins of lifting 4 days a week followed by one day of just cardio and then 2 days of rest. I have a friend who lost alot of weight and put on some mass doing this exact plan, again everyone is different but its worth a try. PS its a long term process, don't give up after a month if you don't see huge results. Rome wasn't built in one day. Feel free to message me about more specific stuff

I have been into lifting for about 5 years now. I would say take baby steps. Ease your way into workouts and over time up the intensity. Don't go to hard to fast. At least 30-40 min of cardio a day is a good way to start. It can be as simple as walking and then gradually increasing it over time. Also try to eat 6-8 small meals a day. Anything can be counted as a meal, so like a healthy snack can be considered a meal. This will keep your metabolism running all day and help to burn off fat. As for gaining mass. I usually start the day with a protein smoothie with protein powder, some fruit, milk and ice. After working out try to consume a lighter protein shake within an hour of working out. Maybe just water or milk with protein powder.
