I guess that gets back to whether or not fire apparatus drivers should have to have a CDL or not

It could be a lot of things. It could have been, like mentioned, a high profile inmate; or one who needed to be in court NOW for whatever reason. It could also have been an inmate having a medical emergency. Depending on the security risks and what was wrong, it might be preferable to go code to the hospital , rather than wait for EMS.

Still, blood plasma is probably better then normal saline or lactated ringers for fluid resuscitation and shock treatment

Is it ideal that a fire department consists of a lot of 18 and 19 year olds in high school. OF COURSE NOT. But, we all know this isn't a perfect world by any stretch of the imagination (see: Donald Sterling LA Clippers)

I didn't said the department "relies" on 18 and 19 year old firefighters to get rigs on the road; but if the choice is getting 10 firefighters out and having to call 3 departments for mutual aid or getting 17 firefighters and only needing one mutual aid department. I would take the most firefighters I can get from my own agency

Yes, the FD did implement the policy, but why did they do it? I know in the junior application it states "they work closely with the school district" and I don't think an FD would cut down their resources on their own, without being suggested to do so by some outside authority

Our local fire department recently implemented a policy that ANY firefighter still in high school, even if they are 18 or 19, can not take any calls after 10 on a school night. Personally, I have a big problem with this, because we have a lot of 18 and 19 year old OSHA/FFI interior qualified firefighters, and such policy would significantly reduce the number of firefighters available for night calls.

Should school districts have the ability to essentially say that having people well rested for school is more important than public safety/firefighter safety?

Personally, I think schools have way to much power. Read the news about schools strip-searching students on questionable grounds, getting 7 year olds arrested for having scissors in their backpack, holding graduations on weeknights to "prevent underage drinking" even though as soon as the students graduate and are out for the summer the school has NO AUTHORITY over them and it should be a SOLELY police matter.

I don't know about up in Westchester, but in NYC Con-Ed had or has some SUV's with red lights on the dash and sirens, in addition to the yellow lights to respond to manhole explosions and the like

And why does NYPD need a MAB unit? If there is a need for more than they have now, give them to FDNY/EMS. Unless it is only for police officers or something like that.

SOG is special operations group, which is the sheriff's tactical team. Where have you heard that as a unit number though?

Village of Chester is actually still a conflict. Now it is a conflict with the DA investigators, but they are so rarely on the radio it doesn't really matter.

Orange County Sheriff's have overlapping numbers with C/Middletown and C/Port Jervis Police. Who are both (MDTN and Port) on the same radio frequency, just with different PL tones

V/Florida (347, 348, 349) is in the same numbering scheme as T/Newburgh (3xx series) but different radio systems. Same for Town of Highlands (11X units and City of Newburgh (1XX units)

Yes, they distinguish them over the radio by saying the town name; in CAD they distinguish them by using a two digit code in front of the unit number. For example Crawford 215 is in CAD as 215. Warwick 215 is in CAD as WT215

No, the meters are pretty much for situations where we get the call as a "general illness" and find the whole family is sick and things like that. The protocol is pretty much if the meters go off, rapid evacuation/extrication and call for FD

What were the PPM levels of the CO leak? Was the deceased an employee? I find it hard to imagine that a shopper would be exposed to CO in a store environment, which is considerably more open than a home, at sufficient duration and level to cause death.

I don't think these companies were actually closed. It said funding would be cut from the FY 2015 budget.

I think it's more similar to how Blooming Grove ran years ago. Before they had their own medics, they had Regional EMS medics.

I heard that TOWVAC is becoming an ALS agency. I know that as of right now, they have at least 1 member in Paramedic school
