Without a doubt, E-One has the best jacking system on the market in my mind. They can safely operate with a smaller footprint than nearly all others. My issue with rearmount towers is the retracted length being problematic on narrow streets. So no issue if your getting up in the air, but try to place the bucket on the deck 90 degree off the side with a four section 100 ft aerial. Alas, they've been pretty damn successful so I'm sure they know what works for them, just a different view of similar issues.

I wonder about that too. Chicago has some very interesting apparatus, they must have a reason...it would be interesting to know. But the new E-One's are more nimble then I thought. Along with the links I posted in the next post, here's one that shows one of the new TL's set up on a narrow street, gotta love those E-One jacks! Click here for that photo
Any Chicago people on here?

It's always interested me that CFD utilizes all rearmounts and the snorkels. With city street widths I'm surprised they've not got a few midmount towers? Maybe the snorkel squads have the same water tower capabilities, but it seems like the ability to put a tower bucket on the sidewalk to use the gun would be a big benefit there.

This was the first day in service for Chicago's New Tower Ladder 14, a 2016 E-One Cyclone II 100' which I really, really like. It's one of three delivered, and was purchased using the HGAC Buying Cooperative, of which Yonkers and White Plains have both recently purchased off of.
Here's of photo of it posed with the old TL-14 during the swap over yesterday:

Just out of curiosity, are the local VAC's OK with this? I think it's a great arrangement, and should be done here in Westchester, but I can see some anti-progress people around here not liking this or viewing it as competition, along with some billing issues. (Although I think WEMS may have a 40-A-1 that can do this?)
Also, is it staffed double medic, or medic/EMT?

It's great that Paramedics are being trained to be on a SWAT team or Active Shooter response, as it brings medical care to those who need it immediately in a very dangerous situation.
My only issue is non-Civil Service Paramedics who work for private companies. If they get shot and injured, or god forbid, killed, they do not get the same benefits as a firefighter or police officer who is injured or killed in the line of duty. If they have a family, that family is not provided for like they would if he/she was in civil service.
If private service Paramedics are going to be part of tactical teams, is there any way to give them some sort of LODI or LODD benefit that is parity with FF's and LEO's?
Am I wrong?

I notice fewer & fewer people using the "Like This" button, now of course everyone is not going to "Like" everything but consider the contribution the person made to the topic.
As an example if a person creates an "Incident Alert" and they really take the time to put some details in the story please consider giving them some credit. I have seen some people who no longer post them because it appears no one cares.
If people post some photos of an incident and you like them let them know by hitting that "Like" button.
Good conversation started or comments you agree with in a topic give them some credit hit the button.
Just my opinion
