The LPRs on the Animal Control Van... it may be a vehicle that doubles as parking enforcement (like many other places do) and if it gets any "hits," they can radio it in and have a patrol car check it out. That would be my guess.

How can people out of state order these shirts? Is there an address we can send a check or cash to?

Thanks for the clarification and real information.
It does seem that the county would have been better served by not having the big article with photos and information about the vehicle appear if it is not yet in service. Perhaps that could have waited the few months necessary to make it an available resource before promoting it and having incidents like this arise.
And, if it won't be used for a response to the airport or railroad for a major incident, it is a waste of our money. There are plenty of non-ambulatory types at those incidents as well.

School nurses can sign RMAs in bus accidents as they are acting in loco parentis. Why not in this scene?

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It's just going to sit and rot in the garage if it doesn't get used for unique situations and I believe having to transport 150 people qualifies as pretty unique.
Does this mean that a resource we all paid for will sit idly by in the event of a MNRR or plane crash while we strip ambulances from all over the region? And while Yonkers sends the same resource mind you.
It is a great point that regular buses would have worked as well but in the absence of that, these vehicles were designed and bought (again with our $$$$) for these kinds of missions.
I also like the idea of sending hospital folks to the scene but I don't know if they're equipped for that or how DOH regulations apply to field responses by a hospital. Makes for a really interesting discussion though!

Wonder if Westchester County office building had the same thing if they would be denied

Generally, if it's not in service then it cannot respond. Barry, do you know when (or have you heard a timeframe of) it goes into service?
This, IMO, seems a bit silly. I always thought the point of a MERV was to assist at MCI calls and aid in the transport process. Does anyone have a good description of what the Medical Evacuation Bus is intended for? I can't seem to find any information about it on the County's website.

"From 2013 WCDES Annual Report DES took part in a regional initiative as a member of the NYC UASI and purchased a Medical Evacuation Transportation Unit (METU) bus, along with our regional partners in New York City, Yonkers and the counties of Nassau and Suffolk. These vehicles were procured with federal grant funds and will be made available to urban area members when needed in an emergency."

IF you read the NY Post article it says at the end that the patient was transported by an ambulette. The luxury ambulance wasnt even involved.

It will happen eventually but it will be in conjunction with the East Side Access project (LIRR connection to GCT). When LIRR starts running trains to Grand Central it will free space in Penn allowing MNR trains a space in Penn via the Hell Gate line and the Amtrak line on the West Side via Spuyten Duyvil. ESA won't be completed for another 6-7+ years so it will be a while before any East Bronx stations start popping up.

Random Photo I found. I think Station was featured in a 1970's movie, I think it was called "Firehouse"?

Maybe they thought it was better to close now rather than wait for the minimum wage hike to kill them?

There are now half as many Friendly's from their high of around 600. Competition from the newer, trendy restaurants has hurt them. I still think they are one of the more consistently good places out there.

Speaking of Fire Stations, How many does Hastings have. I know of at least 3 (Not including EMS). Protection on Warburton, Hook and Ladder and I think 2 more.

All members of the Special Response Team are trained to use ALL of the equipment that Grant's (read your tax dollars) have purchased. Its not like we purchased a Rescue, that has to put a piece of apparatus out of service to staff. As far as tax money goes, who do you think pays for all of our equipment? Did the Echo Bay project have money trees grown to aquire equipment and personel? Bottom of da Hill, as far as the County needed more pieces of equipment, don't you think the tax payers could do with a few less firehouses to pay for in Tarrytown?

MLSS have been great with regards to responses. They have a rig at the old TOMVAC building, with provides fast response for both Marlboro and Milton. I work in town, and when they are dispatched, they are on the road in seconds and on scene as fast as they can safely drive. No complaints here.

Well i know them and another private out of say west coast (Arizona). Ive had problems with both nationwide privates (and worked for both). The problem with contracts these days are the business managers will tell anyone anything to keep a contract. The famous "oh we can be there in less than 10 mins" when the closest station is 20-30 mins away.

You wouldn't happen to be referring to a 3 letter, patriotically named private ambulance company, now would you?

Well question about "coverage" in town. Where do they "post" when they are in town. Ive always been afraid of hearing that term "coverage" in town. Many privates (not saying Mobile Life is part of this) say they will cover and pull that unit for a BLS / ALS interfacility when "running behind". Just checking
