    Hey guy,
These firefighters did their best to try and help you out, but the confusion was created by you when you stated you were looking for something, yet upon further questioning, they pointed out to you you might actually be looking for something else (supply engine vs. more versatile pumper).
Don't come back with antagonistic comments and insult the members. A guy with a couple of dozen posts on this board has no right calling out more experienced members here as rookies, and green-horns, etc. If you don't like what they have to say, the best course of action is to ignore it, and move on. Okay?
I'd ask the other members to cease and desist with this guy; don't take the bait.
    Have a nice weekend everybody.

    2000/1000/50 Class A
    Delivered March 2011
Cedar Park is a booming city, and is a suburb just north of Austin. It recently opened an 8,000 seat arena, and a large Schlitterbans Waterpark and Resort is being built in the city. As a result of that, there has been an explosion in hotels and retail being built. There is tremendous growth also due to the quality of life, affordability of new homes, excellent schools, and low taxes.
Cedar Park FD is also expanding rapidly, expecting to aqquire new apparatus and build new stations over the next few years. It is a career department.
Also, Cedar Park FD sits on the northeastern shore of Lake Travis, a large recreational lake in the region. Station 3 is closest, which is why it has the Water Rescue trailer and Jet-Skis pictured.
This is the department's first Smeal, after a few years with Pierce and E-One.
Special thanks to the guys at CPFD Station 3 for their awesome hospitality!

In some volunteer departments most Deputy Chiefs are just past Chiefs. Some who can't let go of power or lights. But if you are thinking of going to Deuty Chiefs my question would be, do you really need more Chiefs? In 2011 you should consider creating FF positions not Chiefs.

This is shameful, but it's what I have come to expect from today's GOP. Politicians like the wimpy, cry baby Rep. John Boehner who have no respect for Cops, Firefighters or the military. He's never placed himself in harm's way to protect his country or another human being. He stood with the GOP when they held The Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Bill hostage while demanding that Democrats join the GOP in extending tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans. After getting the tax breaks for their wealthy corporate campaign supporters, they subsequently cut the funding for Zadroga in half before passing it. BTW, Rep. John Boehner didn't even stay in Washington to vote on the final bill which occurred on December 22nd, 2010. He along with many other GOP rich kids had already gone home to celebrate Christmas with their families. I wonder what it feels like to walk away from your responsibilities as an elected public servant whenever you feel like it, leaving your work undone. As a Firefighter, I wouldn't know that feeling, nor did I ever have the desire to abandon my responsibilities for my personal enjoyment ... Rep. John Boehner is a disgrace.
Thank you for your service to our country Mr. Buckles ... May you rest in peace ...

No, he was off. Ironically, he and R1's Captain looked at the scaffold the other day and pre-planned it. But neither were working. The man who went down on the rope, FF Mike Giroux is one of the best. He has trained extensively with the YFD, the FDNY Rescue and others and is well thought of by our members.

Here are some pictures of FDNY R5 taken Sunday at the LI Fire Expo

    Front of R5.

    Rear of R5.

Looking inside the rear box. Note the red reflective striping around the rear perimeter.

    Side Company Emblem.

View of the top of the rig.

An "antenna bar" with eight antennas attached to the front of the rear box.

Very sturdy grab rails along both sides. This rig appears to be built of heavy duty materials. The white speaker on the left is the intercom to the front cab.

AirPak Brackets and seating in the rear box.

View of the front inside of the rear box.

Radios at the front of the rear box. There is a sliding window just above this on the front of the box.

Netting for compartments with roll up doors also.

Rear wall of the front cab.

Front console with two radios and door ajar indicators. To the rigth of these radios is another scanner.

    View of the dashboard.
