  1. There is nothing to lose by consolidation of smaller districts.

People who fight it are ignorant and negligent.

Do you really have the best interest of the patients or tax payers if you can't respond to the majority of the calls?

You hear it over and over again, day after day, of re-toning for a driver or EMT.

Maybe there is good reason for not consolidating and people just dont know........

Ironic that Boston is the first major Department to break away from Scott, as it was Chief Leo Stapleton and the BFD along with NASA back in the 70's helped create the Scott 4,5 certainly improved of the years, is still the mainstay of most Department

The Chicago Fire Department was the first major city to change from Scott to MSA.

Now 2 of original 5 Metro cities to help develop early Scott SCBA have switched.

  3. "He added that the department has also seen more than 150 neck and shoulder injuries in a calendar year."

What does this have to do with SCBA?

Are they trying to blame these types of injuries on the Scott Paks? or Because these types of injuries are happening while firefighters are wearing the Paks and they need something to blame for the injury.

    Interesting Press Release.......

So who is Hartsdale? Is it the volunteer members (6 is it?) or the FD as a whole which includes taxpayer funded career personnel? Or is it the community leaders, or the taxpayer themselves?

What is sad is the failure to recognize that FD's or any organization that takes money that is either or tax or portion of another payment should be 100% accounted for and used in an appropriate manner. FD's provide a service to the community, thus they serve the community, not themselves as it appears in so many cases.

This is the kind of stuff that drives a huge wedge between career and volunteer firefighters. This makes us all look bad, when it's thankfully a handful of the total US Fire Service. No wonder people question why providing fire services is so expensive, they see how much money is spent frivolously by some and think we all do it.

This 2% money in Hartsdale is split between the career and volunteer members, so it seems there are issues on both sides.

  5. What I think is a t-shirt company who by its very name promotes itself on the very traditions that have mamed and killed firefighters.

    Do I like it: NO

Is it going to sell t-shirts: YES (This is America, and Yes you have every right too)

This is why the fire service can not get ahead of itself.

If you are new to the fire service: Learn the history, or guess what, your doomed to repeat it.

It's not cool, there is a reason why we dont ride on the back step anymore.........Change in the fire service is smeared with our brother and sister firefighters blood..

Read the NIOSH reports and you will understand.

I wonder how it attaches to the mask.    With everyone getting fit tested/sized, this needs to snap in QUICKLY without tools while your in the apparatus, because very few depts. out there will be buying them for every mask.

It is 2 pieces.....The Camera on the out side of the face piece is screwed on the the frame and voice amp mount.  The interior viewer is mounted in front of the nose cup.

Runs a couple op hours on triple AAA batteries.  Connects via bluetooh technology.

This is proof of concept technology platform.  It has its place in the fire service.
