  1. I have most of my tools spread out on my body... but I know what is where and always try to use them in training. all the sharp tools are kept in a small nylon bag in my right pocket. Granted. not all of my tools are on me. the extrication gloves and latex gloves only go when they are needed... The pen light is handier then you'd think.

I always have at least two on me... sometimes at accident scenes I set my helmet down and use that as a work light if I am doing something requires a little bit more focused light on the task at hand granted we also have the large handlights that are kept on the apparatus... 7. They're probably too scared. haha, I would be. I think they are similar to the search and rescue organization we have here, Atalaya Search and Rescue. These guys are all average guys who sit behind desks for most of the day blah blah work normal civilian jobs, but are trained in mountain search and rescue and respond with the state police to searches for missing hikers and skiers and the like, year round, but after doing some research there are beyond numerous volunteer organizations in NYC, are the NYRRT part of a FEMA task force?
  8. I hope no members of this squad are on the forums, I don't know what I would do if I saw any of the things you gents just posted....
  9. IMO, I think that Law Enforcement, and Firefighting, are on two different spectrums... However, they come together when needed, here in the southwest, there are no duplicate services, PD and FD get along... We don't have a Technical Rescue aspect of any of the local PD agencies... However, the State Police oversees Statewide Search and Rescue, But that's it. No competition here. Unless it's the firefighters vs. police officers annual hockey game...
  10. Phoenix, has the most peculiar apparatus. Ladder tenders?
  11. are the rear blue warning lights..... actually blue? or amber? with a blue lens...?
  12. Here, our swat guys are on patrol...... We are lucky here to have a county team and a city team..... all of whom have RMPs and patrol just like traffic officers... as well as our EOD team.
  13. Quick Questioon? How often do you guys train master stream operations? After seeing the pictures and reading about the conditions on scene I am curious as to how often you guys train with those type of devices, we have several places of worship within our first due and in our MA district and I have been considering stepping up the amount of training we do with master streams... If anyone can elaborate.
  14. It's so the operator can see where the bucket is in bad weather or smokey conditions. Cheers!
  15. Every MVA is different... and can be a little more tricky then the eye... I usually respond on all MVA's and if PD says that it's minor I will still continue non-expedited.
  16. http://www.krqe.com/dpp/traffic/northbound-i-25-closed-due-to-accident?ref=scroller&categoryId=10001&status=true Hi all, Responded to this accident this morning. What do you think should be done about Wrong Way drivers on the Highway? How are they stopped on your side of the country?
  17. Over the course of the day, I have been getting details on the accident, 1. PD is investigating whether or not alcohol is involved 2. PD is also saying that the driver may have been responsible for another minor accident miles before 3. PD says that the vehicle was driving in excess of 100 mph for twelve miles 4. Also I believe the EMS unit was driving with 1 EMT because it is Normally a medical transport (non- emergency) also there was no patient so I think they were just moving the rig to a different location http://www.santafenewmexican.com/Local%20News/Woman-dies-in-head-on-collision--I-25-closed
  18. I used to pass one of those crosses everyday on my way to training/school. It's a shame. They might as well remove all the crosses that are on public and govt. property. sheesh.
  19. Pretty Sure that having a Firefighter on duty who is sick with anything, is a liability to patients and other firefighters. Don't let this "Inspector General" Bring you down. Stay safe.
  20. Not another light color dispute... all in all, I have a whelen dash light in the front, I have used their lights for several years... But I would like to have two of those cheap Four light head units in the rear of my car... If I buy them, I will post a review of some sort... PS... MODS: how about a equipment review section?
  21. I really only use my one dash light at night when I am responding at home, it is a whelen, but I am considering buying two of the quad lights and placing them in the rear of my car... they are cheap. great deal...
  22. Holy Mackerel, that is a beautiful place to have a school! I am guessing that it is a multi story semi commercial with halls lining the exterior? How did it start?
  23. Some of my LE friends were talking about this the other day, I remember in High School, Red Bull and Vodka was the concern, Now its a cheaper more efficient way to drink, and get drunk...
