6 minutes ago, lhfdvolly said:Our Aerialscope is currently projected to take 500 days from when we signed the contract because of the supply chain issues. Our Pierce engine however was only delayed a few months and as of now we are expecting delivery in late April/early May but that could change. Total time for the Pierce is approximately 14 months without anymore delays. Not sure if that is now the case though if a contract were to be signed today, it may take longer. With the current supply chain issues the entire industry is facing delays.
Firematic told me they're 15 months from contract signing to pre-construction right now and stopped taking orders for 2022 at one point. We're expecting delivery in May/June but like you mentioned, that could changed. They're having supply chain issues due to having to import the raw material that is used in making axles. They used to make them in the US but I was told that due to the emissions deal in the US, they were forced to have to import.

Village of Ossining has approved the purchase of a new 1500 gpm E-ONE pumper for Ossining Steamer Company from Premier Fire Apparatus.

Ossining FD has taken delivery of a 2017 KME Severe Service pumper. The unit, designated as Engine 101, replaces a 1993 E-One Hurricane 1250/750. The Village of Ossining has also approved to accept bids to furnish and deliver a new 22 passenger command vehicle.
The new apparatus features (as per KME):
• Cummins ISX 500HP Engine
• Allison 4000 EVSR Transmission
• 1500gpm Hale Q2 Dual Stage Fire Pump
• 660 Gallon Water Tank
• 25 Gallon Foam Cell
• High Side Compartmentationvodoly likes this -
Members of R14 are currently using Utility 153 to respond out of. They have the confined space equipment and other items in the spill response trailer to respond with. It will be gone for approximately 90 days. I believe it's currently at the E-One factory in Florida.
They're going to be doing a ton of work to it and will essentially be a new apparatus when completed. It was cheaper to refurb then to purchase a brand new one, especially when looking into the near future when Ossining has 4 pumpers due for replacement coming up over the course of the next few years (101,98,96,100). 2 of which are due in the near future.

Nice send off for it. Best of luck to you guys on the new engine and to TOB VFD on theirs as well.

How about going to Independent's site to read about the news of it donating the truck then?

And here it the Town of Broom Fire Department's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Town-of-Broome-Fire-Department/251933044929452
That's actually where I got my info from, combined with IFCO's facebook page.

It's the Town Of Broome Volunteer Fire Department in Middleburgh, NY that was devastated by Hurricane Irene a couple years ago from what I understand. It was donated for $1.

Rescuing people is all in a day`s work for a Chicago firefighter, but on a certain day, it inspired a dream. Eddie Groya, an 86-year-old retired firefighter, just died but his memory lives on in a current Fire Lieutenant as the man who saved his life as a boy.http://news.yahoo.com/video/86-old-firefighter-rescued-current-184017651.html

Are they going to keep it as is or are they going to re-paint it to their colors and put their decals on the truck?

It has happened again. This time at Engine Company 40.
Saturday afternoon, crews were called away from the fire station for a short time. When they returned, they discovered items missing, including an IPad and hair clippers.
"It makes me mad," said Detroit firefighter Darnell McLaurin. "We do things like a back to school event, help kids with homework, parent teacher conferences. Whatever we need to do in the community. So, for somebody to steal out trust that way, It's unbelievable."
Sadly, it is not the only time someone has ripped off personal items belongings to the firefighters. They have returned from calls and discovered their cars broke into, laptops gone and cameras stolen.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I'm very limited on what I can do exercise-wise as the doctor's wont approve certain things, I just want to lose weight and get some muscle back as well as the endorphins.
I will have some follow up questions later.....
Have you asked your doctor(s) what they'd recommend? Might want to try that if you haven't.

People who travel the Hutchinson River Parkway in southern Westchester will face major disruptions next week as a bridge deck replacement closes a short stretch of the highway in both directions.
Starting Tuesday morning, those traveling in both directions on the Hutch through Pelham Manor will be diverted through the Boston Post Road exits to bypass the parkway’s bridge over Post Road.
Boston Post Road also will be closed under the bridge and some traffic will be detoured to Interstate 95.
The disruption is scheduled to only last through Friday, with the roads back to normal come Saturday.

A buddy of mine at the county says that they couldn't fly because all the pilots have been reassigned to patrol for the summer to reduce overtime. He also said overtime is out of control so it ain't working.
Way to go Westchester, ground your chopper during the busiest time of the year so you can claim to be saving money. Smart move! Remember this stupidity on election day.
WCPD Aviation missed out on the ice rescue in Somers during the winter because it fell on the 1 day of the week they don't fly due to budget cuts or something along those lines too.

Meanwhile the Coast Guard completed their investigation into the barges and said they had adequate lighting. All lighting on the barges were up to standard. The company who owns the barges have stated they will add more lighting to the barges.
I'm with some of you who say let law enforcement do their thing before we jump to conclusions. The story has already taken many twists and turns.

It's really not difficult at all to spot an unmarked car these days. Buying all new $40,000 vehicles or however much they are at taxpayer expense just so they can sit a couple inches higher is a complete waste of money and one of the dumbest things I've heard of since being apart of this site.

Very rarely do I see them driving with a partner so by looking into your vehicle to see what your other hand is doing, they themselves are distracted from their driving. Somehow I can see this causing more mva's involving a mos and it being the fault of the mos for not paying attention to their driving.

NEW YORK -- A part of New York City's massive emergency call system has stalled four times in a day.
It forced call takers and dispatchers on to use paper and pencil to take down information.
The system was stalled for a total of 45 minutes Monday, but fire officials said it appeared to be back on track by afternoon.

Got a real camera finally, Canon Rebel T3 (refurbished), so no more point and shoot for me. I've been playing around with the settings and features, so I took a ride out with a friend to Ellsworth Ave in New Haven, home of the West Battalion.
Car 34 (West Battalion Chief) - 2012 Ford F-350
Squad Company 2 - 2011 Pierce Arrow XT Rescue Pumper
Messing around with angles, tight fit so I wasn't able to get everything I wanted in the shot.
Used a "cheater" HDR editing software for this one, just playing around with different stuff. Emergency 2 is no longer at this station, they're at Howard Avenue with E11 and T2. Has been for years they just never updated the sign. Engine 9 was out while I was there.
Any advice or tips would be welcome, I'm new to the hobby.
If you need help with anything, I'm a Canon shooter so feel free to pm me with any questions or whatever. My 2 major tips are to take the wheel off that little green square and turn it to "M". Learn to control your camera and tell it what to do instead of it telling you what to do. If you have photoshop or editing software, change your settings from JPEG to RAW. You'll get MUCH more detail and the tones coming out of the camera will be much more pleasant than JPEG.

Well, are they?
Based on the explanation I received, yes. But they don't have/need lights seeing as they're not really needed.

Are they not considered "emergency vehicles"?
Edit: Nevermind, just got an explanation
