You could contact Valhalla Volunteer Ambulance Corps. They have one coming up in September. Irvington EMS has a very good program I know from Experience good pass rate as long as you study.

Everyone is looking at sizeup/preliminary report as an FD structure only report. These reports are useful to incoming units and bosses on all types of calls from a structure fire to an MVA to a Ped Struck to a school evacuation. Putting information out such as number of patients, staging area, best access route, hazards, etc. will aid in units getting a clearer picture of what they are "walking into" while enroute. It can also aid a boss in escalating an assignment prior to arrival based on information at hand. The important thing is to think outside the box and do not pigeon hole a reporting tool as only useful for one type of call.

We had a pretty successful weekend. We had a good turn out of members from the department as well as the public. We secured 6 potential new members for the department and the Ladies Auxiliary secured 3 potential new members. A great weekend was had by all who came out.

Snowstorm last Halloween, hurricane this Halloween... I can only imagine what comes next year!

On the news this am 5 out of 6 models showed it slamming between NJ and Mass. ... Looks like there is a good chance we all might be a little busy later this weekend.
Remember to make sure our families are ok and start prepping for them as well at home.

Thinking outside the box for quick access while getting a rope system in place....As long as everyone is trained in ascending properly and no couplings are in the way. (like the medics who went down) They still need to focus on spinal care a little more. The scene with the window washing stuff landing on the car was OK, like the way they carefully stated the conditions and identity of the victims. The show leaps forward in time like the events from last week were a month ago.

I might be going to one of the shoots of the show. I know someone who works for NBC and might be able to take me down. I'll take pictures.

EMD saves lives. With some of the response times in this county, pre-arrival instructions can make a critical difference in the outcome of a call.
It's nice to see a progressive move like this.

I seriously hope 60 control has a mass hiring, because it's going to be interesting!

Got to agree, except I didn't think Rescue Me did a rightful service to the Fire Dept.
Rescue 8, for those who don't know, was a great show. It was in B/W and the first TV Show on the FD. It was based on the LA County Fire Dept. Emergency was another Fire Dept TV Show that did a Great job for the fire service. It was that show that actually got many fire depts responding to medical calls.
I hear people talking about how bad Backdraft was and Ladder 49, but I think they were very good. Of course it was Hollywood, but they did put the spotlight on both the Chicago and Baltimoe Fire Depts in a favorable way. In fact, I once heard that after the first showing of Backdraft in the movies, for one theather in Chicago, as the people were exiting, Chicago Fd was going by on a run. The people cheered them as they went by.
The TV series Code Red was one of the worst. In fact as I remember the LA City Fire Dept took a stand AGAINST the show.
Anybody remember the TV series "The Bravest". That was a great show on the FD.

I will never forget, November 12, 2002, while watching 3rd Watch, my wife went into labor with out firstborn.
THAT was a great show!

Gotta agree it wasn't any worse then the crap on tv now maybe it will only get better

i think they should bring back third watch....by far was the best show on tv and did a good job showing what the fdny and nypd do.
