  1. Its been automatic for me to always turn to the inside rear page first before anything else in the fire engineering.RIP Mr.Brennan.
  2. I am not from MV. but I am from Yonkers,I can tell you these guys have a huge fire load ,and they bust their a** ALL the time. But when is enough enough. When you are calling departments to cover your houses on a single alarm because the rigs are understaffed and they need everybody they can get there is something wrong. I have the utmost respect for these guys ,but their mayor is playing his chances and hopefully the department or the citizens dont pay the price.
  3. Maybe the ISO needs to be told whats going on .If the insurance companies that set their rates acording to the rating really aren't getting their worth when companys are put out of service for complete tours because of either light crews or broken rigs ,maybe they have the power to strongarm the city.
  4. best of luck to them, its gonna be tough with alot of rain forcast from sat. thru tues.
  5. quick way for hood when handle is burnt off ,rip grill off with point of halligan, place fork over cable and rotate halligan to either side.will pop hood, just be aware of whats going on around bumper pistons when operating in front of car ,if there is a good amount of fire, pry up hood from side and avoid the front.
  6. There have been coyote, turkey, and deer routinley seen in van cortlandt park as well as tibbets park
  7. I thinlk when locating an address, the first step would be to get the city,,No???
  8. sounds like a home rule bill that if passed would have to be enacted on an individual basis for each municipality that requests it.I imagine it would really only affect combo departments like greenburgh.
  9. I think the most concern comes in for later arriving rigs,(that are parked around the corner ,or at hydrant 2 blocks away.Manpower i know is an issue and its unfortunate for the guys in MV,but there should be a diver with truck at all times so stick or bucket can be moved as needed for either rescue or ventillation.
  10. i know its been a couple of years,,,but, didnt they give the agility like 2 years ago?
  11. got 22,now will be at it all nite almost like juggling

  13. Our condolences to Billy's family, the Brothers Malone ,and the entire Greenburgh community.Rest in Peace G.Smith and your friends from Yonkers
  14. NYS paid FD's send their newly promoted lieutenants to the FDNY "FLIPS" school. I do not know exactly what "FLIPS" stands for, but it is a 1 month fire supervisor school. I do not advocate EVERYONE learning from FDNY because their situation is so unique (excessive manpower and resources). However, this class is a standard and you know that all officers AT LEAST have this class. All Career Lieutenants go through 1 month of FLIPS, First Line Supervisors Training Program, not just fdny. New York hosts the academy because use it the most ,about 25 guys per month except in the summer. All outside agencys (upstaters) are dormed at Fort Totten where the classes are held
