Dedication this Friday (FEB 10 th 2006 )at the Training Center.

Back in 1989 White Plains FD allowed Fairview FD to store furniture,trophies and other items inside this building while Fairview Headquarters was being renovated. I got a chance to go inside and see how traditional it was.I agree, it holds alot of community spirit from days in the past. About a month ago I heard WPFD relocate a company to this station due to the extreme traffic back up on RT.119.Con Ed was working on a gas line and would cause Station 2 problems responding to the Battle Hill area.

St Augustine Cemetary and Dale Cemetary also have OFD memorial areas. Both have large stone memorials and the annual Communion (memorial day ) prayers are held at the site. I'm not familiar with the bricks , however FASNY does have names on bricks at the Hudson Retirement Home in Hudson NY.

FDNY's Thawing Units go around to all the frozen hydrants. They open up the hydrants and stick a tube down there to de-ice the the frozen water. Each hydrant they do takes about 20 mintes. FDNY has like 3 of these units. Found this information about FDNY Thawing units. I was wondering if they work well and do they thaw hydrants during the fire? or hydrants that are covered and look frozen after the alarm? Also ,,perhaps tbendick can submit some photos of the unit in operation.Thanks

I believe Bedford Hills FD Rescue 10 has a green strobe on roof facing up to show command post.

Engine 174 also got a light tower and PTO system installed a few days ago. Two 1000 watt flood lights.

Ossining Fire Headquarters at 21 State St. has the Dispatch center up and running! Finishing work is being done and new desks , chairs ect... were delivered the other day. next couple of weeks things will be moving ever faster. Parking lot will be done.more to follow

National Transportation guidelines come into play when operating on the Interstates(I-95)(I-287).This is especially true when on scene for 45 min or longer.
