  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. Can this be retrofitted onto an existing AV3000HT mask?
  3. I notice Yonkers Squad 11 goes on all 10-30's? I thought they nixed doing that so they kept some sort of rescue in service in the city?
  4. Isn't Harrison one of the better EMS systems in the area? Why is the Town of Harrison always embroiled in some sort of political scandal?
  5. Why does it have to be volunteers only? Why can't NYS legislation just keep firefighters as equals in these matters?
  6. http://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/westchester/rye-city/2016/02/26/rye-reaches-agreement-firefighters-union/80934834/
  7. For the same reason they bought us hot sticks.
  8. Does anyone have a copy of this policy they can post?
  9. How and what did they damage that made replacing the truck a better option?
  10. Saw on the news that County PD's Field Com responded to the Mount Kisco Fire? How do they staff it?
  11. My department probably would have gone Seagrave if they had the mid mount version of this at the time.
  12. Rye needs more paid staffing per shift. They aren't going to solve anything by "recalibrating the dynamics" when volunteers can't even afford to live in the City.
  13. I would think New Rochelle wouldn't want to repeatedly subsidize Mount Vernon FD at the expense and sacrifice of New Rochelle tax payers, when they aren't going to get the same in return. Mount Vernon and the Pelhams should just contract out to New Rochelle anyways.
  14. Came across one of these the other day being demo'd at a local hardware store. It looks like it could easily be broken, but it's pretty strong surprisingly. http://hiconsumption.com/2014/09/haven-smart-lock/ I would think you could conventionally force the door, or take a sledge hammer to the bottom of the door. Thoughts?
  15. Just when the morale couldn't be any lower...BAM! Boom goes the dynamite! These poor guys.
  16. What happened to "Everyone Goes Home"? Tell that Northern Westchester combination department on the Hudson River Firefighter to read this: http://www.everyonegoeshome.com/2015/12/02/cancer-in-the-fire-service/
  17. There is something seriously, seriously wrong with a department's safety and training procedures if this many firefighters are getting hurt at every fire, or something else is going on, like union issues.
  18. I wish Seagrave had gotten this, but there was no chance since they didn't go out to bid. These are basically written to Seagrave spec.
  19. Sharp graphics and well thought out. Wish my department went with Hudson Valley instead of the low bidder, "production line" installer where quantity is more important then custom needs. I guess the more and more we see Hudson Valley Fire Equipment cars hitting the street says something.
  20. So, instead of having one person in distress, you'll have two. Not to mention the fact you have to train constantly to remain proficient with this technique. Does this option cost extra?
  21. All this would be is a band aid, and as long as Commissioners want to rule their "kingdoms", nothing is going to ever happen. Nobody would pay these bills. I think Mount Vernon would just laugh at the bill. And to my knowledge, there's no law to support this. But mutual aid costs a fortune, especially when every department that sends one rig has to do an off duty recall. I think the real question here is how much is mutual aid costing the taxpayers, especially when the citizens have to pay for the recalls. Do the citizens know or even care? I think the media should look into it. Would it be cheaper to just properly staff?
  22. Been reading this site a long time. Just started posting. Seems to have a very knowledgeable membership, wish more people would join in though.
  23. That Chief needs to step down. Immediately. He obviously doesn't care about his firefighters health or well being.
  24. I thought when I saw the headline that there has to be more to the story, or it's being overblown. The facts in the LoHud article seem pretty good, and the Yonkers Tribune seems to paint a more in depth colorful picture of the incident. A Lieutenant throws a knotted napkin at a waitresses head to get her attention? That first is hard to imagine. So it hits the Commissioner accidentally, the guy goes over to apologize, and a brawl breaks out? Both guys are injured. YPD and Empress are called? Really? Is this incident just being overblown? And who stands to gain or lose anything from this?
  25. Are you kidding me? That type of incident yesterday in Ossining is exactly what the Field Com is for! With all the DES personnel that responded, not one person could drive it to the scene? So, Westchester County has a vehicle for major incidents, that's designed for multi-agency coordination and command, and it just sat in a garage yesterday? No way, it had to be out for maintenance or something.
