  1. Good luck Chief I will let the people in my house know.
  2. This is from one of my buddies in my fire dept. I dont know if its proper to post here but i am sure if its not it will be handled properly My day job is in Manhattan where I'm employed as a business agent for photographers in advertising. I have a client researching the following for an advertising shoot. They are looking for subjects to photograph that meet the following criteria: 1. Subjects must be 40 years of age or older. 2. Must use Lantus to control A1C level(must prove usage) 3. Fire Service- Volunteer or Career The client is looking for "real" people that use the product as opposed to utilizing models. Subjects chosen for this campaign would be compensated 5(five) K- $5,000.00 dollars as it would be a lifetime buyout for usage. If you are interested + meet the criteria, please call me on my mobile: 914.262.6303. I would need a Jpg of subject to forward to client(specifically in turnout gear). Or if you know anyone that meets the criteria + would be interested, please pass e-mail along. Thanks, Chris Smith Columbia Hose #3, E87 Sleepy Hollow
  3. I disagree, in NYC you only give notifaiction if the pt is in dire strits. If you called lets say Jacobi and tell them you are coming in with a pt that as a broken toe they will hang up on you, for the simple reason they are too busy. In this county they are not even as close to busy as the city. What special things have to be prepared for a broken toe, or a pt with a runny nose, or any other minor troubles. I can understand for major medical and trauma. But 90% of our calls really dont fit into those. I think its awaste of radio usauge or phone call that could be use for a real major incident. Its the same as excess radio usage that happens all the time or when someone is fooling around on the radio.
  4. The EMT program is ponsi certified program you should get 7 credits for it at all SUNY and CUNY colleges. You get 2 credits for first responder and 5 for EMT Basic for a total of 7 I think for medic its a total of 11 credits. But i got 7 for mine.
  5. I notice this week that there have been many LODD, too many even one is too much. Brothers and Sisters lets remember our training know it, live it use it. Lets all keep in shape, know our limitations, and for godsakes wear our seat belts at all time. The best why to honor our fallen brothers and sisters is to stay alive.Train

  11. Good case to show that Haz Mat awarness does work. The reporter stated it was divine intervention or good luck. This is a case of a police officer remembering his training and using it. good job on his part.
  12. My department has switched to Holmatro from Hurst. and we love it. Holmatro is 40% lighter then Hurst on the combo tool. With the Holmatro many of the operations are one man compared to two man with the Hurst. Overall I htink the Holmatro is a better product.
  13. Being from Sleepy Hollow this is the story I was told. I thnk it was 1995 when the Village changed the name, It was planned for when the GM plant closed. Since the village was losing a big investment with GM gone they switched over for the toursit money. It also is to honor the legend.
  14. wow he actually got up and got out of there hope all was well

  20. In my ERT class last year the instructor said that FDNY's union did some sort of survey with there memebers asking if there was a dirty bomb attack in the city who would show. These are the results we where told in the class 35% of fdny now this includes ems and fire 35% who were on duty said they would go home. 75% who were due on the next shift said they would not come in, and 95% who were off for the day said they would not come in. Now I do not know if this is true this is most certian second hand information at the least. But it has me thinking how many of us here would go to a dirty bomb attack here in White Plans. Or mutlpile attacks across the county. Too be honest my wife has asked me many times that what if question. and all i can do is just stare her in the eyes and say hopefully it wont happn. How do you all feel. Please keep in mind the stats above are only hear say from a class this is by no means me sayon its going to happen
  21. I know they have an issue with the enternce to the appartatus floor so that may be an issue on the pierce why they chose that. the overhead entrence is oval shape only allowing x amount of feet on the low ends.
