  1. I understand where you are coming from - but I didnt see it quite that way...

    Union against Union...m'eh...

For Profit...absolutey, Empress is...and honestly - there is NOTHING wrong with that...they are a company started as a business, to make money, and they have succeeded in that...I cant count how many times i had to move the Jaguar to get to my bus...I say good for the Minervas for following an American Dream and being successful. There is NO shame in that...if YFD wants to pint that out - all fair in Love and War..IMO. These guys are fighting for the jobs of some, and with les manpower - technichally the lives of the guys that dont get cut...

I wish the YFD the very best, as always. BUt also know that as mentioned - the majority of the employees of Empress bust their asses with, and for them...for the people of Yonkers.

  2. Some discussions have been about putting a LEO in each school - who pays for it? In the end we do. I suggest get our soldiers out of other countries that do nothing but kill them dozens at a time and station one in each school.

Better yet do more to care for and determine mentally ill people.

Now on a different note, I hope a fund is established to provide years of mental health counseling for everyone in the school. It's really scary to think of how things can turn out 10 - 15 years from now.

I would gladly pay more in taxes per year for a dedicated School Resource Officer in every public school in my township.

NOT an armed guard....but a uniformed POLICE OFFICER who reports in a MARKED police car that parks IFO every day.

I just cant put a pricetag on my children's safety, and ultimately, their lives.

  3. Sure, when I was there all they had were Dodge Chargers. This is a sharp looking vehicle.

    Best of luck with it!!!

Yep...they had them when i started...I remember one day, when I was brandy new...and a scared little country boy...I had to take one - Truck 06...the all white charger to YGH to go "hospital shopping...I was already loaded with backboards from the other ER's...turned up Ashburton from Nep...hit a huge ass pothole going up the hill...which popped the rear hatch open...spilling about 8 backboards into the roadway...Haha...that sucked so bad...I was freaking out..

  4. Guys,

Now is not the time for any conversations about guns, disturbed people, school security or lack thereof, or any secondary topic.

It’s a time to grieve, help the survivors, the parents/ relatives of the dead and the first responders. Its time to help the children come to terms with something that could haunt them for the rest of their lives. Nothing else! Knee jerk reactions to a horrific event can wait. Let’s let the investigators do their job, and learn as much as they can. Let’s get the facts, there will be plenty of time to point fingers and express opinions later. All of our attention should be on how can we help the victims, survivors and the responders.

  5. I'm not criticizing the video or department. I have a problem with a piece of apparatus, that the fire depatment has because they "need" it, being used in this way. The only way that it doesn't affect the "utility" of the rig, is if it is completely removable. How long does it take to remove all of that? There is no way that thing is functional at a fire the way it sits. There are decorations in the basket, wires on the boom, lights on the rims, etc. Can it be raised, rotated, and extended? Can the rig respond at a speed faster than a crawl without getting those wires and lights flung off the rims and tangled or whipping against the body? How about compartments? Is access difficult because of the wires and crap all over that thing? Ground ladders? How manywires are going to get tangled there? I guess the fire can wait, it always waits

Thats only part of my issue - but you nailed it on the head for sure...

And first off - I want to make it clear that I am NOT a "Scrooge"...LOL. My kids LOVE these "Holiday Lights" parades that have become SO popular, and if my kids love it - I love it. They went to quite a few of them this year, and were even able to ride in a RETIRED fire engine all done up - (THANKS AFC!)

My issue with THIS particular posting is the company stated they sepnt $1k....helloooo???????? People are losing their JOBS, their HOMES, their everything in this crappy economy, and it will continue to get worse for a long while before it gets better...and someone, somewhere thought it would be OK to drop a grand on blinkie lights for a parade? You Officers, both line and civil, are put into those postions to protect the best interest of the people living within that district...and keeping spending down is part of that..spending $1000 for lights is NOT.

  6. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a guy in a Chief's Uniform going to Proby class if the candidate selected doesn't have a fire academy certification?

Hasnt that been done in Dutchess already? (Being serious, not sarcastic, I am out of the loop of some departments)

I can only guess who that one guy is...

FINE job for an Applebee's Hero....I'll put ya in for it, K!
