  1. First off, I've been collecting and restoring fire apparatus for over 30 years and was in awe of what I saw on Sunday. Great bunch of guys that are the Catskill Fire Cats local chapter of SPAAMFAA. For those of you young guys who don't know what this is I will spell it out, Society for the Preservation and Apprication of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America, (SPAAMFAA). First photo's taken are of some local rigs and if you guys want more let me know. First photo - Former Port Chester Engine 60 1958 Ward LaFrance [attachmentid=2908]

  16. IT's easy, after they blow them up then they will move them and not allow them to park there. how about a car /truck running into them, non terrorism!
  17. I have been responding in to airport for 35 years now. during the day you have Rye Brook down the road now who can get to any call on or off the airport grounds and eng 58 or eng 59 5 min. behind them . throw in all the volly rigs coming from three depts.plus greenwich at the bad one's you have more then you need. after 1900 eng 59 moves to cover Rye Brooks sta.. what we all need is more training at the airport, at least twice a year hands on training. when this can get done then we will see about the next move.

  21. The nose that BLAUVELT has/had is in fact the nose of patrol 4, one of the buisest rescue's in westchester in it's day. any one from blauvelt that can hook me up I wood like to buy it from them to add to my inventory
  22. THEY WERE 4900 CABS, WITH A FIBERGLASS NOSE.
  23. The continenal compac's were a nightmare from the start. frame rails, motors 6v53 det. allason643 automatic all from GM. Then they bought cabs from INTERNAITONAL, They were the only one making the crew cab, same cab as RYE'S U39/PATROL 3 ?. with out the front end on. They pushed the cab up front and made a new fiberglass nose to make it look like a cabover. T hey made there own wireing harrness which caught fire many times. all the rigs that went to YONKERS passed threw PORT CHESTER as we were replacing the B model mack in 1980. They were slow and there workmenship was like crap. we bought a new mack[still in service as eng 62]. They were very cheap and that is why citys like YONKERS who were in deep money problems at the time bought.
