LARCHMONT – About a dozen people were forced from their homes Wednesday after "noxious fumes" began to spread through an East Avenue apartment building, officials said.
The fumes were reported about 2 p.m. by the superintendent of 3 East Ave., Larchmont Fire Lt. Tony Martyn said.
"We responded there and were immediately met by people coughing," Martyn said. "Our members entered the building and experienced the same thing."
Martyn said Larchmont's equipment failed to identify any chemicals that could have caused the fumes, forcing officials to call for more sensitive instruments used by the New Rochelle Fire Department.

NEWBURGH – The State Police have terminated their Amber Alert concerning a report of a possibly kidnapped girl in Newburgh because of the “unique circumstances” of the alert, specifically that no identified child has been reported missing.
Troopers said, though, that Newburgh City Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
City Police Wednesday activated the New York State Amber Alert and is investigating a confirmed child abduction that occurred at South Junior High School at 33 Monument Street in Newburgh at 3:50 p.m.
The child is reported to be a black female, about five years old, with long black hair. She is about three feet talk and was last seen wearing a short sleeve bright pink shirt.
Two suspects, both said to be Hispanic men, are being sought. They are said to have forced the child into a black or dark pickup truck with possible green writing on it.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 845-561-3131 or 911.

Rest in Peace

If the Newburgh City government is unable or unwilling to do anything, then maybe it is time that the Orange County Sheriff's Office or New York State Police step in.
which sounds like a good idea.
but, where is the funding going to come from?
