Kinda like asking if you have an issue with female firefighters. The answer is unequivocally not at all. Some of the best firefighters I know are women as have the ones who went on to be chief been some of the best chiefs I have known.
I thought this cartoon was very fitting for our discussion here.

    Next three obvious questions:
    1. What will happen with all of their apparatus?
    2. What will happen with all of their money?
    3. Where will they pop up next?

Considering O2, glucose, charcoal and aspirin, metered dose inhalers, nitro, epi are all considered medication in the BLS protocols, unless you are a CFR/EMT I would ditch any of those from a BLS jump bag if it is not used by members certified to use them (not that BLS is carrying nitro, epi or mdi's.) Additionally, unless you are qualified to splint a limb or immobilize a patient using BLS equipment (backboard, collar, straps, splints, traction splint etc) I would refrain from attempting to splint any injury seeing as you can do more harm than good if it is done wrong.
I.E. unless you run as a state licensed BLS/CFR service, ditch anything that is considered a medicine or that you need special training to apply.
I wouldn't want some random firefighter who just happened to grab the jump kit trying to treat a patient, do it right or don't do it at all.
Let me finish this little statement with the belief that CPR/AED & CFR should be part of all intro firefighting courses. (and if we are adding time to FFI we might as well add FFII, Survival, AVET, FAST)
Just becasue you are a firefighter does not mean you will not be called on to treat patients. When was your last fire verse your last time seeing a patient on-scene?

The short answer is, no. There could be very limited exceptions, all of which would involve consent or Search Warrants. These "experienced officers" you're working with are committing larceny. And, if they're actually taking it from a person, they're committing a felony larceny. To go one step further, if they are using force or threats to take them, they are committing a robbery, which is classified as a violent felony here in New York.
You can always ask a witness for their video if you think it could aid in your investigation, but you can't force them to turn it over without a judicial decree. And, taking the phone just because you don't like what a bystander is saying/doing will never give rise to the probable cause required to obtain a Search Warrant. As a backdoor way to get it, you could Subpoena the recordings with a Subpoena Duces Tecum, however in that case, they only need to provide you with a copy of what they recorded, not the actual phone.
Additionally, taking all phones from all witnesses or bystanders just because they "might" have seen something is impermissible and violates the Forth Amendment. There is a ton of caselaw on that. Feel free to LexisNexis it and you can spend days reading the cases.

Because they don't actually view women as people, other wise they would apply "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" to all people, not just white, Christian, males aged 30 years and over.

Again, I ask...what do they actually do? How do they assist during emergencies? What capabilities do they have and what capabilities does this unit have?
How can you use this resource in emergencies if no one knows what it does?

    So what do they do?
I noticed the vehicle has no emergency lights...does it respond anywhere?

Anyone in emotional shock or having an acute stress reaction should be treated by EMS and observed by ED staff. I know some people will disagree with me, but I do not believe that a schools CISD team is prepared to deal with individuals in a catatonic state or a stupor that is associated with traumatic events like this one.
If an individual having an ASR is not able to process information properly and safely, they may not be in a state where I would feel comfortable with them or me signing an RMA form.
If nothing for no other reason, allowing EMS treatment will provide a continuity of care to the patient in an attempt to rebuild a social safety net and allow the individual to return to a new normal.
After having treatmented and transported victims from a school accident involving fatalities, the school and the parents were appreciative of the treatment that was provided by EMS/First Response. Obviously we treated those who were injured worst first, but we also ensured that all parties received at least some form of continuous initial care. It speaks volumes when we are able to care for everyone and not just those physically injured.
One of the most important lessons I have learned as a provider is the power and importance of PFA (psychological first aid).

Captain, while I normally agree with you, I do not think I can agree with you in this case. We believe that we have convicted this firefighter just like we have convicted the suspect...in the court of public opinion and no where else yet. FF Perdomo has not been charged or convicted with any crime to date. Based on speculation and rumors of the media, many of us have jumped to the conclusion that some degree of malfeasance has been committed on the part of the victim. Many of us listen to and embrace these media rumors, yet we are also so quick to dismiss, put down and ignore other rumors the media promotes on any number of various causes.
My point is this, while it may smell fishy, neither you nor I should be rushing to judgement. He was a brother, a firefighter that men risked their lives for and who probably risked his life for them. He did his job and by all accounts never let his personally life interfere with his work. On the job, he was my brother just like he was yours. I would not be so quick to judgement of another brother, regardless of the situation they were found in. We protect our own, if we don't no one will, by selling him down the river without any real proof we further weaken the bonds that you yourself are proclaiming to be failing. We sell him down the river by letting the rumors promoted by the media get in the way of fact.
I say RIP because at this point a man was murdered, no matter the reason, no matter the man, a life was taken, end of story. You may have all the suspicion in the world, but that does not matter one when it comes to facts. For now, I wish this firefighter to rest in peace just like I would any other fallen firefighter, it is only after all the facts are out on the table will I decide whether my statement was premature or not.

I am opposed to any and all plans that do not include a mass transit feature. Whether it be specialty lanes for buses or lines for rail it really does not matter. However to not include mass transit features is to not plan for the future. What will this region look like in 50 years? If the next 50 years are going to look anything like the last 50 years, this region is going to look like LA with snow before I reach the age to retire. Therefore, it would be common sense to extend mass transit over the bridge into Rockland. Hell, if they could link up with NJ transit, we could have the start of a logical and connected mass transit system allowing anyone from New Haven to Trenton the ability to enter the NYC and Metro Area via mass transit without having to take 3 separate lines. If one could go from NJ to NY and then NY to CT without having to enter NYC, imagine the relief that would provide stations such as Penn or GCT.

As it turned out, Quad 8 found us before we could find her. A few of our members made the trip to South Harrison Township, New Jersey after the heir to the estate of a private collector offered to return each piece to their original owners before going to auction. We were happy to bring her home and we're looking forward to sharing her with the public soon. Look for more information on Quad 8's return at www.purchasefd.com soon.
