With all of the changes made since DiBlasio took over it seems like the City does not want a police department any longer.
Maybe they should change the name from the NYPD to the NY Department of Social Workers and Problem Solvers.
What is next the City council providing money for vehicles  with couches so the NYCDoSWaPS (NYC Department of Social Workers and Problem Solvers)
can do mobile counseling when faced with confrontations.
What is next, before roll call all of the officers will be instructed to join hands and sing Kumbaya to set the tone of the shift. Rose colored glasses are optional.

"We probably should just throw in the towel and give the streets to the criminals".

The cops don't have a chance out there. Maybe we should do away with the cops entirely and see how well we can all function together on our own.

If this keeps up, nobody in their right mind will even consider being a cop no matter what the pay or benefits are. Maybe we can just hire felons to monitor felons. Kind of like that saying; "the fox guarding the hen house".

I also must add this too. Of my younger friends, NONE, have any interest in becoming a police officer today. It's just not worth it. If that becomes a trend and that should happen, we may be left with no other choice BUT to eliminate our police.

"I JUST HOPE THAT I'M NOT AROUND WHEN THAT HAPPENS"

Nice to see a pro criminal city council take steps to make it easier to evade the police. Very often what the bad guy does not know can be a useful tool for the good guys, not that will no longer apply.

At 21 I am sure the ink on his gun permit is barely dry. Then there is the issue of why you are drawing a weapon inside and in the company of anyone, least of all a minor. Even when I was a volunteer and worked as an armed guard, all the while advocating against the departments general gun ban, I never took a weapon out of a holster with other people in the room. I am glad I never needed to.

    From the article
A 21-year-old man has been charged with criminal homicide after a teenage boy died of a gunshot wound inside a fire department Sunday in Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania State Police said.
    And
Matis was arraigned and taken to the Fayette County Prison, where he is being held without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 7.

How can you be an "ex-felon"?  Once you are convicted of a felony aren't you a felon for life?  This entire premise is bizarre...were their convictions overturned or is the article just idiocy.

Once a degenerate, always a degenerate in my opinion.

What always gets me about Greenwich is that they are one of the wealthiest communities in the entire nation. How they can not afford to properly staff an engine is beyond me.

The issue is the school policy, not the enforcement of it. The ban on something that simply looks like something else is what leads to a kid being told he can't wear his father's FD T-shirt because some gangs also wear blue, or that you can't top cupcakes with green plastic army men because the figures have guns violate the weapons policy. School administrators clearly do not live anywhere near reality.
