  1. Another great loss to the fire service. Arod was a friend, classmate and a brother. He was always there to lend a hand and donate his time. On top of that he was a great firefighter. Like you said Mike, the worst part about this job is that you will bury friends before their time. One thing is for sure though, he is definitely in great company where he is now. Rest in peace Ant, you will never be forgotten.

  2. That sounds about perfect for cooking up one of those deer! I'd even come down and make you all a venison dinner to die for...bacon wrapped backdtraps...garlic potatoes..cesar sald...veggies....and nice cold....MILK! LOL

Count me in! I have a freezer full of the stuff, no need for road kill.

  3. Actually Lost Trails is quite open. They never shut down. Not sure where you got this information. Perhaps you're mistaking them with "Paragon ATV Park" which closed down due to the landowner not wanting to renew their lease.

The original Lost Trails was closed in August of 2010. Information came right from their website when we were planning a second trip there. What I did not know is that they reopened at a different location in June of this year. Maybe a fall trip is in order.

  4. Interesting. A lot of rinks however use liquid propane for fuel (or atleast i thought). These emit up to 60% less carbon monoxide. I have been to several activated fire alarms at indoor ice rinks but have never been to an activated CO alarm at an indoor rink with CO detectors. Makes you wonder if they are working...

Lots of hazards at skating rinks to be aware of. Anhydrous Ammonia, lubricating oils, high voltage electricity to name a few. If you have a rink in your district, it would be wise to check it out on field inspection. Have the crews show you the refrigeration room and the location of possible hazards. At the very minimum it makes for an interesting training session.

  5. As of Friday 1/30, the City of Yonkers has decided to accept the Safer Grant. The rest of the laid off members are being reinstated and demoted officers will receive their respective ranks back. Looks like this will happen by the end of next week. Thank you to all who made this happen, especially the local 628 executive board. Nice job guys!
