  1. I'm backkkkkk......... For those that don't know me, name's Mike. Currently 18 years old and just completed my first year at a small, private college in a small town adjacent to Worcester Mass. for a degree in fire science. Just finished up an EMT course 2 weeks ago as part of my 2nd semester classes at school, and I'll be testing with Mass. Office of EMS in early June to get my patch. (Well, the patch will come later, early June's just the practical, then comes the month and a half wait for results, and then finally the written/CAD test and then I get to see the results.) I was, up until January of this year, a fire explorer with a small combination department for a grand total of 4 years until the advisor stepped down due to scheduling issues and the post has been all but killed off since then. Attempted to get hired by that department and another local one as a call firefighter, but thanks to budget cuts, hiring freezes are in effect. So I'm technically a nothing, but I am always striving to constantly learn, and that's what drew me back here. Hope to stay for awhile.
  2. It is in fact, E-37 and L-26 first due to Fenway. Mike
  3. Happy Birthday Doc. Mike
  4. Is there a setting to determine how many posts per page (in a topic) there are? Currently, there's only 9 or so posts per page, and it's starting to get annoying. Any way to change it? I remember before I left here that there were maybe 15-20 per page. Mike
  5. Correction, WAS a class 1 dept. Now they're Class 3. Mike
  6. Contact the Massachusetts Office of EMS (OEMS for short). If you set up a Emergency Medical Response agency and you don't take care of the proper paperwork for them, you can bet that your (butt) will be hunted down and fined! Mike

  11. Joe, I would be inclined to agree with you with some pizza joints. Some places are actually quite good around here. Most pizza joints have medium thick crust with very oily sauce and shredded mozarella. Basically soft bread with pizza toppings. HOWEVER, I believe the best pizza comes from Pizzeria Mangia in Lake George NY. Yes, I know it's not from NYC, but the pizza and employees there are great. I ordered a small cheese my last day in Lake George, cook messed up on it by ripping the dough taking it out of the oven, made another and only charged me for 1. He also shook my hand and thanked me for my patronage (I went there everyday I was there and I even tried somewhere else - they didn't even come close) Mike AKA EMTBravo's unofficial pizza critic.
  12. I'll take my NY thin crust plain thank you!
  13. "Well, uh, honey, now we can do all those renovations you wanted!"
  14. Merry Christmas!
  15. I believe that the Scope is a great Tower for operations, however, no matter how hard they try, there's going to be at least 1 lemon made by any apparatus manufacturer in any given year. Despite how hard they try, lemons are unavoidable. It probably doesn't help if the city that operates a lemon doesn't put the effort into it to get back in operable condition. Mike
  16. Permission to post on the IACOJ site requested. Mike
  17. What I would give to get a Mack.... Then again, I can't drive a stick shift!
  18. Actually, a 3rd party system, IF SET UP RIGHT, can be just as good. Take Worcester MA for example: Closest Fire Company and an available UMASS Paramedic Ambulance (rolls with 2 Paramedics). Medic Ambo signs on a third Ops channel that's used for single company calls (outside fires, medicals, etc) Fire Company can communicate DIRECTLY with the third party Ambulance, therefore updating the medics that are responding. The 2 minor problems with this system: Delayed communications between dispatch centers - Rarely does this ever happen, as there is a dedicated FD/PD/EMS Inter-Op channel. Backup Ambulances (AMR, Medstar, and other privates) don't have Inter-Op capabilities. Other Fire Departments that sometimes provide mutual aid with ambulances occaisonally do have Inter-Op capability, but I've never heard of anyone using it. Mike
  19. Anybody know if the BuddyLight will fit a Bullard USTM Traditional Style helmet? It can either come with or without the cairns eagle, but Bullard isn't Cairns. (Please note, I don't have a Bullard or a BuddyLight yet, but I am hoping for enough money [whether by a new job I may get or by Christmas gifts] to buy both) Mike
  20. Wal*Mart doesn't give a crap about it's employees. You don't believe me, just ask the employee's non-existant union, which the employees have been trying to get for years. I hate Wal*Mart. Mike
  21. Take a look at this . What's being done wrong here?????? Mike
