  1. Nahh...that's just how to deal with you!!!
  2. A few months ago, Port Chester and Purchase had a drill together at SUNY to make sure all of our new thread adapters were correct and we practiced water supply from a PC engine to TL53. And when the new "Waterfront" development opened, we had a full department drill for car fires in the parking garage and had walk-throughs of each business there. Weekly drills, training, and training center visits are different for every company.
  3. Some requirements might include: Total # of hours driving Total # of hours pumping (if an engine co.) You might have to drive to a certain amount of alarms with another driver A final "test" with a senior company member/driver There might be different standards for different companies within a single dept. Hope that helps.

  13. Just a couple of years ago, we had to take everything off E64 because the paint was peeling and chipping mostly on the cab. It had to go back a couple of times after that to fix thier mistakes. Our rig is only six years old now and the paint was peeling off. They used a different style of gold leaf on one side of the rig and there is overspray everywhere.
  14. I have this scanner. With a 3ft. antenna and magnetic mount base. I can hear portables in Peekskill and I picked up 60 Control an hour into NJ from the GWB. Mike How much does it cost? About $100.

  19. I sent in pics of a fire in Purchase in January of this year. They were taken on a Nextel i860. The quality wasn't too bad, but they never got posted. If you have a camera phone, you'd always be prepared to take first hand pics. I'm not sure of the size once it's e-mailed though.
  20. So if FDNY doesn't respond to hazmat calls anymore, the NYPD units would have to get fire apparatus also? Hazmat incidents should be handled by the FD and Hazmat team, in my opinion.
  21. Let's just say that if the NYPD does take over all hazmat incidents, will the team be made of regular cops with state hazmat training? I'd think they would still have FD on the scene though. Anyone know how that works?
  22. On some cars, the battery might not always be located under the hood. Some BMWs and Mercedes have them either in the trunk or right up against the firewall.
  23. It should've been like that all along.
