Sorry folks, but I have to make this statement. As being a long time member of EMTBravo. The somewhat "Cult Like" Inner-Sectums, Local Politicis, and what appears to be by many in the public as the "Good Old Boys' Club, among many many Paid, Combo and All Volunteer Fire Departments, not only in Westchester County, but throughout the county, makes many people sick to their stomachs.
One set of rules for one, another set of rules for others and god forbid if the two should cross. Then you get the "VERY UNPROFESSIONAL" jabs, pokes, barbs, and in some cases downright cruel bullying by many, some of which are either current long time Firefighting Professionals/Officers or retired Firefighting Professionals/Officers.
People would much rather read about and see a harmonious collaboroation between "Brothers" and others outside of the rank n' file, who love and respect the profession, rather than read about people accusing others of making false statements and/or assuming things that may be true or may not be true. These back n' forth cross jabbing on various posts here on EMTBravo.net, is starting to turn many many long time members away from this site.
We all, as members of EMTBravo, have a responsibility to everyone on this site to make it Educational, Informatiive and most importantly FUN !!! AND, "Check Your Egos At The Door"
Finally, as the late Jack Webb once said "Just the Facts, Just the Facts"

Could not agree with this statement more. In our town, a spare pumper truck is used for Santa Claus to ride on top of the hose bed on. There are a least 5 people riding along side Santa (with the driver and captain riding up front). In addition, there is a Chief Car riding ahead of the truck and an Assistant Chief's car riding behind. Add to that all 3 vehicles have their sirens blasting as they ride thru neighborhoods, with "Santa's Helpers" throwing out candy to the kids who waiting along side the curbs. Is it 100% safe? No, but according to local officials, for the past 80 years that they have been doing this in our town, there hasn't been a single incident. And yes, the kids love it, year after year.
Taking the proper precautions to make sure that safety is looked at, first and foremost, makes this aged old tradition wonderful.
Letting Politics impact this, will be just like cities, towns and villages now have with people preventing their communities from putting up Religious Symbols, such as Christmas Trees and Menorahs, are just wrong.
    Just my 2 cents

There used to be a really GREAT web site called "onthejobny.com" that Mike Martinelli, (aka "TRUCK 4") had on the net for awhile a few years ago. At one Holiday Season, he had posted photos that he had from both Yonkers and Mount Vernon Fire Departments from back in the 1960's and 1970's, were were nothing short of CLASSICS. (Maybe he can get that site going again)

Actually, the rig next to Engine 309, in the photo above is Spare Engine 315 (old Mack CF). This spare rig might have been there because there was either no spare ladders available for 72 to use OR Spare 315 was being housed at Station 9 at that time. Great photography of both rigs with their running and emergency lights on!!!

FIRST AND FOREMOST - TO OUR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS: "STAY SAFE AND WELL, WHILE YOU ARE OUT THERE PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED DURING THIS UPCOMING STORM"
I would suspect that some of the Fire Departments in some of the major cities in our area (YONKERS FIRE DEPARTMENT, MOUNT VERNON FD, NEW ROCHELLE FD, WHITE PLAINS FIRE DEPARTMENT) will be bringing in off duty personnel to man reserve and spare fire apparatus to support some of the historically known flood areas in those cities.
Does anyone out there, who are tied to either the YFD, FDMV, NRFD, and WPFD, know what plans they have in place? (such as, for example, say for Yonkers, putting Engine 317, Squad 21 and Ladder 77 in service; in Mount Vernon , putting Spare Engine 1 and Spare Ladder 4 in service, and say for NRFD, putting Engine 19 and Ladder 14 in service)
Any and all information would be appreciated

Although my opinion may not be shared by others on this forum, but this terrific long time rivalry between Rye High School and Harrison High School, has been a classic for many many years. The players on the winning team has traditionally taken a "Dip" into the creek next to Nugent Field at Rye High School.
This year's event, to which Harrison High School snapped Rye's winning streak, was marred by "some individuals" who thought that by causing mischief and fighting, was the thing to do, because either they did not like the Harrison Players taking the "Traditional Dip In The Creek" OR was coming to the defense of the Harrison players. These individuals simply took the fun and excitement out of what was a great game.
No matter what Team Alliance the individuals were sided towards, each and every person found to be fighting or causing a civil disturbance, should be locked up in the County Jail in Valhalla, for the rest of this weekend, among the general population, without any chance of getting bailed out until late this evening (Sunday).
Maybe then, will these individuals learn some "Scared Straight" sense, and others might think twice about doing any stupid things like this in the future. Until then, these kids will continue to do stupid things like this and their parents will continue to bail their kids out and just give them a slap on the wrist.

Here we go again with this Paid vs. Volunteer nonsense. If the responding department meets all of the FDNY qualifications, it should NOT matter if the department is PAID or NOT PAID !!! (and yes, one set of standards should be required for all departments, whether or not it is a PAID Department of Volunteer). - Everyone needs to "CHECK THEIR EGO'S AT THE DOOR"

Firefighters are battling a very smoky, three-alarm blaze at 103 Webster Ave. that broke out shortly before 4 p.m.
As of 4:30 p.m., flames engulfed the roof of the three-story residential building and smoke enveloped the neighborhood. Firefighters had set up a ladder to the roof of an adjoining building and chainsaws were heard. The building appears to be a total loss and another building has been damaged. A large throng is congregated to watch the firefighters as they fight the stubborn blaze in the Nodine Hill section of the city. Details about a cause and possible injuries are not yet available.
Another Fire Alarm 10-26 was reported at 654 Bellevue Avenue, at around 4:35 PM in the City, where the remaining Yonkers Fire Apparatus (Squad 11, Engine 314, and Ladder 70 and Car 4), along with Mutual Aid companies (New Rochelle Engine 22) from Neighboring Communities were dispatched to.
At 4:40 PM, a 10-32 (Alarm Reported) at Gorton High School where other Mutual Aid companies, along with Engine 314, Ladder 70, who were just released from the 10-26 job, were dispatched to.
