Recently in another thread someone mentioned "Westchester Battalion Chiefs" which was later pointed out was a misnomer and that the correct title is "Battalion Coordinator"? Wouldn't each of these individuals have an up to date and complete list of the capabilities of his respective Battalion, and in fact, all of Westchester County at least?
In Yonkers, our Operations Division maintains an inventory of what is (realistically) available to us in this region. By realistically I mean the equipment actually does exist and is functional, it is able to be brought to the scene in a reasonable time frame, and it is operated by an adequate number of qualified personnel.
I think you have identified a critically important issue which has not been addressed properly by those who are responsible for doing so. However, I don't agree with your solution. Anyone can post anything on the internet. The information obtained from this thread may or may not be accurate, and it will almost certainly be incomplete. Why not just write a letter or make a phone call to Westchester County DES asking if this information is readily available and if not, suggest that it be collected and made available?
I will state in advance that it was learned the hard way in the days following 9/11/01 that the capabilities of many individuals and agencies can be greatly exaggerated and that these claims must be vetted and credentialed in advance of any event.

I was a real Bloomberg supporter for years. I though, "Here's a driven, self-made man who can run this town. He's not a politician, he's a worker. He's above politics and nonsense. HOWEVER, now I see that he's just plain above everyone. He does have the financial know how to keep the city going through this great recession, however he's a little too far removed from the lives a actual New Yorkers to keep me feeling positive about his time as mayor. He's gunned for the FDNY every year since 2008 and with no good reason. WE'RE CHEAP! We have a fairly high Fireman to Civilian ratio and we're a great tool box for a big city. You can't buy a better insurance policy for this kinda dough.

This is another example of how little respect people have for law enforcement these days. This was a father, mother and daughter that were fighting with the SRO's that were detailed to the game. Unfortunatly this is not an abnormal situation. Any cop who has some time on has a story about trying to arrest a someone and all of a sudden their family members pile out of the house or show up on the street out of nowhere and now you have a brawl on your hands.

I took this shot of the City of Poughkeepsie this past August from the Hudson River Walkway...... It was taken at dusk just before the walkway closes (Which BTW, also happens to be the optimal time for photography) and I almost didn't finish it... I had a few minutes to go and then I had a less that pleasurable encounter with a NYSPP officer who apparently was having an off day  ......... They put in and make a big deal about all this LED energy efficient lighting and yet the walkway closes at dusk.....Go figure...
I have printed this out on my printer at a size of 24" high by 120" wide and it is highly detailed...... I have a friend who has as a 24" H x ~80" W version and his kids had it framed for him as a Christmas gift.... It now occupies his living room and it looks gorgeous..... I have many other landscape panoramas that I have done and my intent is to try to sell these as a means to pay some of my photography expenses...... Doing the fire photography has put me in the hole as far as expenses go and hopefully I can use photos such as this to offset some of my expenses.....
If you have yet to go to the walkway, you should do it...... It really is a great place to go .....

It is with regret to announce the passing of Josephine Harris. Josephine was confined to a wheel chair trapped on the upper floors of one of the Towers on 9/11. The FDNY Members of Ladder 6 were coming down the many flights of stairs when they came upon Josephine who was unable to go down those stairs. As the members of Ladder 6 approached her, she said for them to leave her, and just save themselves. Of course the members of Ladder 6 did NOT do that. Instead they all took turns carrying her down the many flights of stairs. Then with only a few more flights to go, the entire 110 Story Tower came down on them. Trapping Josephine and those Ladder 6 Members. Later they were all rescued and of course Josephine was very Thankful to those FDNY Members.
The History Channel did a story on those FDNY Members and Josephine, along with a few others that survived that day. That story is called "Countdown to Ground Zero". It is now on DVD featuring Josephines story. She was certainly a hero that day and offered herself to stay back for the safety of others.
May you Rest in Peace Josephine Harris. You were a Hero as far as I am concerned, along with those Firefighters from Ladder 6 who carried you down those many flights of stairs to safety.

I spent a lot of my career working in a very busy F.D.N.Y. Truck Company and finished off my last 6 years in the Rescue. I enjoyed (Spelled L-O-V-E-D) working in both companies. I did lot's of fire duty and worked at many unusual emergencies.I worked with some of the best, most knowledgeable firefighters while in both of these units. That being said, every firefighter anywhere who is worth their salt puts their life on the line every-time they go to work, regardless of how busy or slow their unit is. It's great to have company pride as long as we don't lose sight of the fact that we are all in the same business and should not be in competition.. .
    Stay safe Brothers ...

Mander will return where he belongs, sorry.

Squid picked up our old runs when city was split between us, extending SQ11's district outside of the Bronxville Fire Dept......
Quality not quantity- we do like seeing the Squad fella's on relocation to Sta-1 when there's a job, specially if they drop a pot of DD's for our return

Chief Rush was a great guy. He was County Coordinator when I taught 4 YFD Proby classes. Our probies got the Westchester Police Recruits wet one morning when a deck pipe was "accidently" aimed at their PT class. I had to stand tall before the man and explain. He was firm but a real gentleman. Condolences to my Stepinac classmate Ed and your family. RIP.

Sorry to read this news. Chief Rush was County Coordinator in '86 when LTNRFD, myself, Bruce Kerr (rest in Peace) and others attended the 1st combined Career Chiefs Fire Academy under Chief Henry Campbell. Chief Rush was a true gentleman, and he treated us probies with great respect back then. May he Rest in Peace, and may his family be comforted by the fact that he touched and had a positive impact on the lives of hundreds, probably thousands of people during his tenure as Chief in Elmsford, and as the WCFC.
