While we are on the topic of roto-rays, in the past the discussion of the hazards of a roto-ray spinning and hitting someone have been brought up. If I'm not mistaken, the roto-ray only spins when the apparatus is in gear. The other day, I saw a pic of a truck that had a roto-ray mounted above the windshield of the truck. Just that this was a good solution to what has been discussed in the past.

Yeah, its definitely a photochop- the lighting on the roto-ray is all wacky and is identical to both, besides there isn't any shadow on the apparatus front.

I've seen better Photoshop jobs before, but this one is admirable.

Also, I would say the rig is lacking a lightbar due to the fact it is not complete yet. Looking to the right of the picture, you can see the bare frame of another apparatus, probably in the back lot of a manufacturer.

Yep....it's a fake...it was actually on the computer here at wok, so I thought the buffs of the world would get a kick out of it....

I can tell you that the roto-ray is from Bladensburg FD in PG County, the nines' etched on the red lense give it away.

Scary!

Whats scary is that in over 200 posts, this is the FIRST thread I can remember starting that has gone more than 1 page....

And it's about silly whoopie lights. rolleyes.gif

And here I thought it was for aerodynamics... One rotating to the right, and the other rotating to the left so the truck wouldn't keep wanting to make turns from just one of them... tongue.gif

twp roro ray, and 6 airhorns.  Why?

not really sure why. they have 2 Grover Airhorns mounted in the bumper, 4 Train horns on the top of the bumper, 2 Roto-Rays, 2 Electronic Siren Speakers, and last but not least, 1 Q-Siren. this rig is very unusual.

Look at that, they even needed a four foot bumper to hold all the cr4p!!!

To answer your question, party, it's because the agency 1/2 a mile down the road had one roto-ray and five airhorns! The truck is also six inches bigger than theirs so tongue.gif !

there's a bunch of places out there that are getting 2 roto-rays and train horns... Shrewsbury in York, PA has 5 or 6 train horns on their new rescue - http://www.shrewsburyfire.com/content/apparatus/

Shoulda saved the $1000 it cost to buy the second roto-ray and put a set of 888's on it.

I like the train set on Shrewsbury's Squad.... Trying to clear traffic on Route 30 going through York county is like trying to herd cats.....
