Soprano's finale - What did you think?

25 posts in this topic

Who else watched the Soprano's tonight and saw the ending? I thought the show was good but the ending really leaves you in suspense with what happened to Tony. The only thing I can think of is how this episode began with Tony and Baccala talking with Baccala saying "I wonder what its like. You must not see it comming." With this said I can make sense of the ending, but did it really end that way.

What do you all think?

Think it sucked , they better do a movie to close it off but I doubt they will.

At first, hated it. After some thought, I liked how it built up, thinking Tony would get killed or busted and nothing happened. Plus, playing Journey on a jukebox has gotta be the best way to end a series.

they had a long time to plan this final episode but it ended like " huh?" for a second i thought my TV had craped out at the last second but then the credits rolled and i was like thats is some real cliffhanger stuff. i thought it was good and there was suspense at every corner since you had no idea what could happen. They could have let us know what happened to Silvio, did he die? is he in a coma for ever? as for the movie idea i think that that would be a bad idea. it would not work out. you need an ongoing story flow, not something that has a start, middle and an ending. But it was a great run and it seems like yesterday that there was this new show on HBO about the mob. It will be missed.

It sucked...too many loose ends. I think I smell a movie in the future...

That show after was pretty good tho. "John from Cincinnati" has potential.

I thought my TV crapped out. I had recorded it on my DVR and I was ready to kick my TV and then the credits came. I was glad that Phil got clipped. That was awesome! I loved when the SUV rolled over his head!

I think that be ending it the way they did, they left it open ended just in case they want to ever start making the series again.

it's been done in the past...isn't this the 2nd or 3rd "final season?"

I thought it sucked as well as half of the people that I have talked to. My prediction is a movie set for Memorial day or 4th of July in 2008 or 2009. That movie would make a killing at the box office.

Working hard to get my fill,

everybody wants a thrill

Payin' anything to roll the dice,

just one more time

Some will win, some will lose

Some were born to sing the blues

Oh, the movie never ends

It goes on and on and on and on

Those lines say what the whole show was about for the past 8 seasons.

Phil got his that's all I cared. I actually enjoyed it somewhat. As the ending unfolded I immediately got it and even passed a comment to the rest of the guys who were watching it that they did the finale exactly as they have many shows which in a way was fitting...with unfinished plots and story lines. The fan in me wanted more but I think I understood the interpretation of the director.

Tony was killed....

in fact, the ending was genius if you've paid attention to the show

or are just a fan of well developed well thought out plots that all

tie together and have the memory of a champ to remember it all

the ending was simple, he got killed, but let me tell yall why and

explain in detail... There was 3 people in the room total who had a

reason to kill tony.....

the two black guys, they were paid before to kill tony but he was

only shot in the ear, this was in one of the earlier seasons,

also in the earlier seasons, the trucker who was sitting at the bar

stool, who the camera kept focusing in on, is Nikki leotardo, Phil

Leotardos nephew, he was in one of the early season episodes where

Phil and Tony have a sit down....

heres where the genius comes in....

When tony ' s walking in the diner, you see the camera focus on him, then

it switches to his perspective, and you see him looking @ the booth

hes gonna sit at...

then the camera switches back to tonys face, then it once again

switches to his perspective, and it shows him looking @ the door and

looking @ the people come in..... Everytime the door opens the Chimes

sound....... Carmela walks in, Chimes, AJ walks in Chimes, this when

Meadows parallel parking, still trying to get inside the

restaurant....

at this point the camera switches back to the trucker who goes in the

bathroom......

Then it goes to a scene where meadow finally parks and starts running

in the diner....

the doors about to open, Tony looks up....

and No Chimes......................

No Music............

Everything just goes black...............

In one of the early episodes of the sopranos, tonys talking with

bobby about what it must feel like to die..

Bobby says "at the end, you probably dont hear anything, everything

just goes black"

part of that was revisited in the second to last episode during the

last seconds of it, when tonys about to go to sleep and he flashes

back to the memory of him and bobby on the boat... "You probably dont

hear anything everything just goes black"

so in the end, the Journey song was playing, the chimes on the door

sounded but when meadow came in, the guy in the trucker hat came out

and killed tony...

its the reason you aint hear, or see when he died.... it was

from his perspective.... and everything went black, then the credits

rolled.

Oh God ! Now my head hurts.

If I have to think of all that, it was not worth my time to watch. I'd rather read a Shakespeare play.

Very strange ending, I did not remember that whole fade to black thing, but it certainly is plausible. I still don't think that this ending holds a candle to St. Elsewhere's bizzare ending, which was kind of coppied with a comedic twist on the end of Newhart.

As I said on my away message, David Chase obviously didn't see the original ending to Star Trek:Generations. That in and of itself is a story. But I won't tell it here. Too bad about the ending. Oh well.
