I have been off the grid since my computer crashed and I forgot my password. I have been to too many Police and Fire funerals, and that was by far the biggest I have ever been to. We were near the LIRR standing 6 deep and I could barely hear the pipers playing. What a sad day, but a great sendoff. I hope his fund hits millions and millions more. RIP Brother!!

The Killing of any human being other than self defense should be met with the death penalty. I think every Dec 30th we should hang all the guilty in Times Square. Be a good pregame before the Ball drops!

Yesterday's tragedy was an ambush while the officer was on a traffic stop. There was a shooter on campus that had not been caught at the time of the shooting so it is and Active Shooter case in my opinion. Lock down of the campus was a smart thing to do.
As for 2 man police cars, I don't see that happening in very many places when PD's are talking about budget cuts and laying PO's off.

To all my Public Service Brothers and Sisters, but mainly LEO's. Today is Dec 1, what starts what we call SUS or Sitck Up Season. Please Be aware of your surroundings no matter what time of day. In these hard Economic times, people are resorting to comminting many types of crimes to provide for themselves or their families. If you see or hear something that doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. If you are home during the day, watch for packages being delievered to your neighbor's and watch for people removing same from your neighbors houses. Many people will be attending CHRISTMAS PARTIES at all times of the day and night which could result in Robberies and DWI's, always keep your heads on a swivel. It's hard enough for us in LE to go to work during the HOLIDAY SEASON, but it's alot more important that we make IT HOME TO OUR FAMILIES TO ENJOY THE HOLIDAY SEASON! BE SAFE!!!

Maybe we could give volunteers tax breaks too! And pensions! Oh, and we can buy a couple of SUV's and let them take turns electing people to use them 24/7! Hey, we can give them a discount on things like a pool membership, breaks from local merchants, movie theatres, etc.! Maybe we can build a hall which they can use for family events and such? We can spend money to throw a big party every year! Oh yes, how about providing a gym? Perhaps we can invest some money on travel reimbursements for vacations, um, I mean training travel...We should also make sure we absolutely do not question any money spent on apparatus and equipment...after all, that is just a "drop in the bucket" and these guys are volunteers, right?
What do you guys think? Will any of these ideas help out with recruitment and retention?

Believe me, I am all for people not calling the PD, Fire, or AMB of nonsense calls. I may even suggest at times that a PT be transported by a family memeber. But people understand and often say, "Won't we get seen faster if we go by ambulance?" I advise them that this is not always the case!
There are very few excuses I will except for a delay, especially when I am on scene trying to deal with a Patient or the Patient's family! There are some good VAC's out there that have their stuff together and then there are some that should just be absorbed by other Agencies!

RYE — Tuesday's melee at Playland Amusement Park could have been avoided had police shown more restraint in dealing with angry park-goers, a leader of The Muslim American Society of New York said Thursday.
Of course it's the PD's fault!
