Turbo Tax?

10 posts in this topic

I am debating using this for the first time and am looking for feedback.

I have nothing too intricate...own a house, some property, 2 kids....

Also - is there still that volunteer fireman/ambulance worker credit that came out last year?

Yes, you can still claim the volunteer credit on your NY return. I believe it is $200.

I filed with Turbo Tax's online system last year and it was very easy. I've never used the installed software though. The online system was great, i got my refund check in a week.

For the past five or so years I've used HR Block's TaxCut software. This year I decided to purchase Intuit's Turbotax due to a bundled software package I purchased with it.

I wish I stuck with Tax Cut. While Turbotax asks the same questions and ultimately gives you the same result. I like Tax Cut better due to the multimedia features when I get a case of the stupids with some of the questions asked. Because of this I think Tax Cut is more user friendly.

Both will let you Efile both fed and state and the $200 NYS VF credit is there.

I've used Turbo Tax for the past 6 or so years online.

Whether HR Block's version is better I can't say... Turbo Tax however has never given me a problem and always given me timely answers to items that I needed guidence on.
