The light tower has 6 750 watt lights (left & right side can be adjusted independent of each other, so they can actually shine in opposite each other). The tower also has an automatic electric field monitor (the grey box on top of it) and a radar to prevent the tower from hitting anything or getting within 8 feet of powerlines.

The top....Crane, boat, light tower, storage and the "Hippo" power unit (white box in right rear corner of body).

THe Hipo unit powers 2 low volume (40cfm) air hoses, 2 hi volume(185cfm) air hoses (to run jack hammers, an air knife and dirt vacume and 2 10gpm hydraulic lines that run our stanley hydraulic tools (concrete chain saw, jack hammer, and pumps). The pumps move 1,600 gpm and unlike drafting have a lift of up to 35 feet at 100 feet from the rig.

Any other planned uses for the crane other than just raising and lowering the boat?

Yes its rated for people, as a gin pole. And other equipment, including a very large PPV fan will be stored on the roof.

Mark, go look at the recliner infront of your TV. Sit in it then press the "SEL" & "LAST" buttons at the same time. The frequency is on a need to know bases and you do not need to know!!! ROFLMAO

Thanks, it is considered a 4,000 Ibs crane. All ratings are based on the best angles and extension. Our spec required a minimum of 600 Ibs. working load (NFPA 1983 2 man load) at the lowest (worst) angle at 12 plus feet from the side of the vehicle (the actual rating is much greater). The boat, motor, fuel, all rescue equipment and the dolly (which is attached to it for deployment on land) is 400 Ibs.

We are not publishing the exact rating. We will develop an SOP that gives the maximum working load based on angle and extension and we do not want members to know any other number than what is in the SOP.

We expect it to be inservice by the middle of Dec.

Get looking and very well planned out rig!!! I hope NRFD has great luck with it.

But 007 won't be happy with it, there is no automatic Martini dispenser!!! (Joking of course!)

Barry, is there going to be a public view of the rescue when it is finally delivered??

Thank You

Don't assumue it does not have that....but of course we have not allowed that in many many years.

We usually do not, just get it in-service. Let them see it at work.

Be on the lookout for R-4 on the highway. It left the plant this morning. The following pics were taken just prior to leaving.

The zodiac storage on top of the rig along with the crane to raise & lower the boat is a really smart idea when NRFD designed the rig
