Funny things said on the radio / in the firehouse

83 posts in this topic

we've always sent new guys on D.O.A calls to the street address to funeral homes. They wouldn't realize it until they actually got there. It backfired when there was actually a D.O.A. at a funeral home and the jokes flew from the "seasoned" tour that was working. Another one they mixed up the address (which was two numbers lower from the funeral home), they simply left the area when in fact there was a DOA a few doors up from the funeral home, the Sergeant on scene was calling for the dispatched unit who had to turn around from returning to the diner.

Haha I remember this one....

At a working fire on the corner of X and Y ...M/A engine coming in:

"Engine ### to 60-control, is that a right or left off of Xst onto Y"

(before 60-control had a chance to answer)

"IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY"RE GOING, SEND THEM HOME!!!!!!!"

"60- Control to Eng ###, that's going to be a right."

over heard on the fire-ground after that was "look for the smoke and shiny trucks"

Brontosaurus 1 was always fun.

When we were clearing Phelps once with 55B2 when "The Sopranos" was still on, I said "Fifty-Five Bada-Bing Two is in service." Got back to quarters and our Chief was waiting for me. Expecting him to be real pissed, he said, "Hey a$$hole, it's 55B2 not 55BB2."

Well played Chief, well played.

Don't forget 55 buttercup!! Haha

Heard a Chief directing a TL to back up to a scene, he then said, "TLXX stop there, God has spoken."

Heard an EMS run go out for a "possible sprained ankle or gunshot wound."

What's the difference between God and a Fire Chief?

God does not think he is a Fire Chief.

At fire headquarters we always monitored the PD, to give us a heads-up on anything going down. On a summer day, we're all eating lunch, when we hear a PD car on the city pier with an open mic.

First guys says; " Isn't that ( female full name}

Second guys says " She sure has great {upper anatomy}

First guy says " Is she still .... {male full name }

At that point every PD car & dispatch in the northern part of the county began keying their mics! :o

There are two good ones I have heard.

1. Engine # to dispatch " can we have the address please"

Dispatch to engine # " it will be the first burning building on your left.

2. Engine # is dispatched to a port o potty of fire

Scene size up from engine # "engine 5 on scene single store plastic structure fully evolved"

Great times with some great guys. Epically when you can bring up things like these years after they happen.

A few months ago...

Chief: "Car #### on location, nothing showing"

60 Control: "On location, It's a CO Alarm... nothing should be showing"

A few days ago.. (late at night)

PD Car: "Car ## to ###, run and hold Illinois ###-#### (License Plate)"

Base: "Is that a phone number?" (in a very sleepy tone)

PD Car: "Negative, Illinois tags"

Base: "Ok, give it to me once more"

WMC: Ok, then redirect to the .....other.....facility on the other side of the campus.

WMC: to ****- ( sounded like the supervisor) your heading to the phsyicatric center, on the west side of the campus.
