Saw on other sites online

KME is going to be awarded the bid

Also saw it on several sites that KME has been awarded the bid, and Seagrave has been awarded the bid for the new squads, tower ladders, and tillers.

Word is that the KME story is a rumor.

Until you see a manufacturer toting the bid on their website, ect, I'd be skeptical.

Any updates on the big pumper contract as yet? See nothing about it on KME's site yet

What prompted FDNY to go to 2000 GPM from the old standard 1000 GPM in the last few years? curious

There were a lot of problems moving water immediately after 9/11. By buying 2000gpm pumps any engine can be a source or relay pumper. Its relatively cheap compared to adding more satellite engines.

KME engines are starting to come in. CTS has a new rig and it's been delivered to the shops. ID #KE14001.

Engine 97 is almost complete/

I can't credit the photos, they're posted elsewhere with no credit. One appears to be courtesy of the Milton Fire Dept.

Yup....pretty close. From the cab back they're essentially identical. From the cab forward.....some slight cosmetic differences. Very small stuff. Front windshield angle, crew cab doors, little stuff.

Any chance it (these) were given to FDNY as a demo rig like Ferrarra did after 911? They never made it beyond the rock.

KME won the competitive bid (low bid) and was awarded a contract for these as did Ferrara for nearly all the rigs in service. I believe engine 54 was the only one donated by Ferrara and it served in midtown for some time.

It also served in E283 before going back to the rock.

The first KME engine is in service with several more to come this month.

54 had one of 3 Ferrara high pressure pumpers 26 and 258 had the others those rigs were 2003s.

I'm pretty sure they didn't have one loaner

No they are not.

Yeah happy because of the overtime they create!

Technically no because KME is responsible for the rigs showing up that suck under the 5 year warranty.

Right now E153 has a KME and every day units that are in line for new rig are at the Rock training on the first KME which assigned to Rock as training rig. Within next few months more rigs will be placed in service.

Of the rigs on your list, those up to Eng. 89 have already been replaced with 2014 Seagrave engines. They were part of a post Sandy add-on order.

Eng. 153 has a new KME in service and Eng. 97 may also have theirs in service as well.

All companies through (at least) Eng. 52 have completed new apparatus training and expect thier new rig anyday.

I've driven the KME (KP14001) a couple times and I thought it drove really well. Nicer cab set-up for the chauffeur than the Seagrave. Nothing major, just a couple little things. There were a few cab and body components that felt A LITTLE cheap, but we'll see.
