You are of course entitled to your opinion, as are we all. I have to say though that on the above point I disagree strongly. A hard line resolute determined stance is exactly what is needed now. If history has taught us anything it is that appeasement doesn't work. Our advesaries are not bound by our moral or constitutional constraints. They will not be bought off either. The more we give the more they will seek to take. Only through strength and a willingness to use that strength can we assure peace and the future security of this nation. Freedom is not now nor has it ever been free. Believing that radical fundamentalist Islamic terrorists, or maniacal tyrants such as Ahmadenijad or Kim il Sung will yeild to talk without the force to back it up is a dangerous fantasy that will cost far more in blood down the road than that which may be spilled now.

No matter who runs for President most people always regret it. I remember how everyone complained that the last Bush was horrible because they said he was incompetent; everyone hated Clinton because of his womanizing and lying ways; Bush 1 was reviled because of the so-called "read my lips" syndrome, Reagan for contra-gate/ATC isse, Carter for the Tehran blunder, Ford for being unable to make a decision; Nixon, the Watergate issue and Johnson, the Vietnam debacle. Seems like Eisenhower was the only one to escape unscathed.
The point is, no matter who is president, people will find fault right or wrong with whatever they do. Whoever replaces Obama, whether it is in 3 years or another 7 will face the same criticism and scrutiny as Obama and those before him. That's politics folks!

You should not be allowed to use the radio for anything but what you are profesionally supposed to use it for.
That is why all transmissions are recorded are recorded and if in court are used as evidence.
If yo are a proffessonal act like one.
That is coming from experience. I said the wrong thing once and had a written reprimand on my file.
You never know wno is listening especially the FCC or the DOC.

The problem is the overall numbers, however this should not make the rules to be changed. Lowering standards etc. Right now the city of chicago wants to do away with the written exam to get more minorities on the job. Imagine how a minority firefighter must feel after he busted his butt both for the written and agility tests to get on the job. Not all are in favor of affirmative action especially the man/woman who got into the position by hard work and merit! Many firefighters feel that on the fireground is where you gain respect of your peers, not by what your race is. I know a few that shouldn't be OTJ when it comes to the dedication and work ethic. Yes- some of you are probably reading this right now. MERIT Matters for all.....

I'm all for the American resources helping with the rescue effort, BUT dont we have enough problems on American soil like the price of Diesel and housing and dont forget bailing out the Auto industry "cause that worked?". What has Hati done here in this country what provide wicker baskets. Put the shoe on the other foot, What would they do for America??. Dont wait for your bailout systems cause spending One Hundred million is more important helping ANOTHER COUNTRY AND NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AGAIN.
    REMEMBER WE LIVE IN AMERICA
    BORN FREE TAXED TO DEATH

I find it hard to belive that we are sending non military personal to Hati, MSN has reports of groups of young men lotting and roaming the streets with weapons. I do understand that this is a poor country and these people have nothing and now have less but what is going to happen when 1 of our rescue workers comes under attack for a bottle of water. This country was run by warlords before this tradgey. I hope all members of the FDNY and NYPD stay safe and return soon
