  1. HEY, THATS MY BROTHER, HE WORKS IN RYE!!!
  2. My deepest condolences to the Graffigno and Beddia families. These two men are truly heroes. Once again my prayers go out to the members of the FDNY.
  3. I totally agree with you Seth. I've known Jody for many years and he is an excellent firefighter for his department as well as an instructor for the County DES. In my close to thirty years in Civil Service you can only hope that promotions are made on merit not on politics. Once the lawyers get involved is when tt goes downhill.
  4. I took the test in 1977 and was hired in 1979 and I couldn't agree with you more Bobby. It's te best move I ever made and I had a great 27 year career. Being retired I find it rewarding to be involved with the county probie class and sharing my knowledge with the newest members of the service.
  5. My rank when I retired and my badge number, we're not talking rocket surgery.
  6. My thoughts and prayers are with the Deane family and the Yonkers FD. Rest in peace Kevin.
  7. We went through the same thing back in the early 90's. Contact the New York State Labor Dept. Public Empoyees Safety Administration-our OSHA.
  8. It is tragic that this young man lost his life. But, I too agree that he was breaking the law and another lawsuit gets filed. Only the lawyers get rich. That what our society has become. People will sue for anything.
  9. Greenville FD all members are EMTs.
  10. Grew up in Yonkers NY, now live in Lake Carmel NY.
  11. Congratulations Chief Keith and best of luck.
  12. The origin of the Maltese Cross dates back to the Crusades. When burning oil was used as a weapon the Knights of Malta would use their shields ( shaped as a Maltese cross ) to go in and rescue other knights. Being one of the first firefighters the cross was adopted as our badge.
  13. As I said yesterday at the Graduation, from day 1 you guys were THE BEST! Stay safe and keep learning. The best of luck to a great class. ROB KERR
  14. " Little Drummer Boy " and It's a Wonderful Life.
  15. May they all rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with their families.
  16. Test is scheduled for June 2007. Check with County Personnel.....ooops Human Resources.
  17. Nice article Bobby and I would have to agree with you. Twenty plus years ago we were sold a lot of B.S. about TFTs and adjustable flow nozzles. We tested them on day one and our biggest guy was lifted off his feet. And this was in the parking lot of quarters, let alone advancing the line into a building. I think it's time to re-think our position on fog nozzles and their use on the fireground. P.S. Graduation day on Dec. 8 at 1000 hours. Thanks for your assistance.
  18. I was working for both those incidents. Greenville FD sent an engine off the get go and we sent our ladder later in the incident. E151 worked with WPFD units on fully involved structures on the south side of I287. The whole southern county was there that night. The Yonkers job we relocated E151 to Station 14 during their operations.
  19. My condolences go out to the families of Lt. Carpluk and FF Reilly as well as the members of the FDNY. It is indeed another sad day for the fire service. Mat the brothers rest in peace. By all accounts both men were heroes, especially FF Reilly serving his country as a Marine and as a firefighter in Stratford Ct. and NYC.
  20. I don't believe that he was a Captain. WCBS-TV reported that the captain plaque was his father's who is a Captain in the VAC in Saddle River. My heart goes out to the officer's family. If he was DWI, under the influence of drugs and misusing the warning lights and is found guilty he should get the maximum penalty. Another black eye for the fire service.
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETH! I miss seeing you at Dary Del when I got the papers in the morning.
  22. I have to agree with you too Wolf. I had planned not to see it because of Oliver Stone. Who can forget his spin on the JFK assassination. But last night on WCBS-TV news they had the PA cops as well as FDNY members at the premier. Now I'm undecided if I should see it or not. Tough call.
  23. I don't think I would want to see it. Although it's based on the PA cop's true story who cares what Oliver Stone's take is on it.
  24. Federal funding was obtained through Rep. Nita Lowey's office under the sponsorship of New Rochelle and Yonkers FDs. The following Depts. are arranged in Squads: Mt. Vernon, Eastchester, Scarsdale, White Plains, Fairview, Greenville and Hartsdale. Training was given in Confined Space Rescue, Haz-Mat, Trench Rescue and Buildiing Collapse. Trailers are located in various Depts. Sqaud 6 (Fairview, Greenville and Hartsdale) has a Haz-Mat trailer in Fairview and a Technical Rescue trailer in Greenville. The Tech Rescue trailer responded to Hawthorne for the tornado.
  25. My Nextel was Dept. issued. Another plus to retiring, I gave IT back. Back to my reliable Verizon cell phone.
