Normally that is correct, but not always the case.
The North Zone has six tower sites with six frequencies, and the South Zone has three tower sites with six different frequencies. All radios assigned to the System work on the System as a whole, not XFD is dedicated to the North Zone and ZFD is dedicated to the South Zone. All radios are affiliated (recognized) by the tower with the strongest signal strength back to it. If a unit from a North County FD travels to a South County location it will become affiliated with a South Zone tower and transmit off of the South Zone frequencies to communicate on the TalkGroup it's radio has selected. The end user will not know which frequency or which Zone he is transmitting off of. An example would be if White Plains FD were to operate in the area of I287 & I684 it may be operating off of either the South Zone (Valhalla-Grasslands or Port Chester-Summit Ave) or it may have a clear signal up I684 to a North Zone tower (Bedford-Fox Lane). So, although it would appear that WPFD would be a South Zone FD, it could be operating on either Zone.
I see what you mean now cause i havent heard much of any units south of I287 on the trunked channels responding.

Than is correct, although there are some exemptions primarily regarding the paid departments.
Ok thanx, another way i can hear the actually dispatch. Its low band so im not getting it on my scanner??
-
I know dispatch is another frequency. And on the trunked you hear signing on and responding. Now if i assume northern westchester units use north zone and southern units use the south zone is that correct.

It looks bigger than the old one. Also, are they getting a new second piece? I thought I heard something about it...possibly even on a custom chassis
The guys at hazmat told me its coming from Ferrara and its even bigger.

Nice shot! How many HM rigs are stored at Haz-Mat. 1's quarters w/Squad 288? I'd assume just the main rig?
Main piece and 2nd piece.

Limited manpower- 2 man engine companys, 3 man truck companys- then as members went out for various injuries it sounds like an issue with call back of off duty members! Same story different fire!!! 1st due assignment usually has 13 firefighters,3-4 officers then the working Deputy Chief. If its a fire the Deputy will call the remaining Engine (2guys) remaining Truck (3 guys) (if it is not out of service). Then mutual aid will be called.
Is it really that bad in MT Vernon?? Anyway SFRD18, the rescue is manned full time, on the rare occasion it is taken out of service to man the 3rd truck to reduce mutual aid.

Yonkers City Admin. has proposed cutting 2 engine companies and a battalion chief to save money. Part of the cut would be the ellimination of all FD response to EMS calls. There is rumor that the city has a proposal to replace the 11 engines (each with 4 EMT''s) with 4 one person flycars (Not clear if BLS or ALS) for $1,000,000/yr.
Well done YFD and FF Rodrigues.
I think the city's new position id: "How dare you save a life, when we are trying to strip services to the people"
So 1 battalion for the whole city??? what the heck!!

I realize that but also if u close that many compaines u lose that many more officers chances of prom r limited. And alot of cities in NYS run with 3 and 4 man co. and the job still gets done fires r put out rescues made.
Bloomberg i didnt know you were a member of emtbravo.

The website: FDNY gets a whole new set of SOCs! (git it?)
Bad jokes aside, the NYPD rig is interesting as well. 3623 is it? What is that, a command rig, ESU, satellite set-up...
Safe Ops to ALL Brothers, whether your rig is red, or white and blue...
