Chevy did something lie this last year.

I'm sure everything from the pump back is "normal". But I too am surprised they haven't gone with a custom cab due to safety, user-friendliness (not a word I know), and most likely better maneuverability around city streets.

Pine Bush FD in Orange County has an '82 Mack 'scope with a pump and water tank. Many departments use quints, so why not on an Aerialscope. Seagrave is smart to offer it.

Beaching could be risky especially with an aerial. They obviously weigh a lot. The operator would definitely need to keep checking outrigger & Jack support. I would say the spring and wet part of the summer being very risky times to do this kind of operation. I wouldn't want to be the guy that puts the ff's in the bucket at a higher risk that the aerial could tip over. Especially with a tower ladder because chances are somebody would be in it. This would be far more easily accepted/understood with an engine since getting stuck is about the worst that could happen.
My opinion.

These politicians should be held accountable. But they probably will never have to answer to anybody for their inaction. Too bad they really don't understand why it's important to have up to date gear and radios.

Did anyone see one of the nydot's new tow plows in action?

They should be handed down to the next officer in the line.
I won't comment on what happens where I live.

Is that a full-time salary or part-time salary plus benefits?
Not saying it's a bad idea but what's the plan? Sounds like a smart way to add 125K to their reserve funds while seeming very proactive. And they probably have 125K in their reserve funds already so they didn't need to do this to have the funds available in 2016 (or 17) or whenever this is going to happen.
I am not at all opposed to the idea, I just think it may ultimately be the death of the volunteer department Somers.
Why become an officer if you can't become chief?
Why go to training if you can't become an officer? (not firematic training but higher level, officer type training)
Why should I volunteer if the chief is getting paid?
Will the first paid chief be one of the commissioners or family member of a commissioner?
See? Lots of unanswered questions.
Not everybody is cut out to be an officer or chief and some people are happy to be firefighters. Nobody is entitled to those positions.

If you mean the 2013 Ferrara enigne, that was numbered 584 when they got it.
Thanks. I saw that on their website also.

Below is a picture from Washingtonville's website of their temporary Engine 582. It is a 1990 Sutphen with 1000 gallon tank and 1500 GPM pump and indeed was formerly part of Upper Saddle River, NJ.
So what number does engine 582 go by now? I'm referring to the newer Ferrara that was numeted 582.

We are issued one and the packs on the rigs each have one.

Buchanan's 1991 Pierce Lance came back from refurb just in time for their 75th Anniversary parade. Photo by X4093k
Who did Buchanan's refurb?

Yes, it was taken over by the PA a couple of years ago in hopes to boost business in/out. So far, I don't think it's making a difference.

Gotta love the Nyack antique engine that still works though!

The steps in the doorways are an excellent idea. It makes no sense to have such a large step to get in and out especially while wearing bunker gear. And for those with short legs.

Mike Martinelli has a nice shot of a seagrave remount single axle scope from Asbury Park NJ on his website fdnytrucks.com
Cornwall on Hudson wanted to do the same thing. But the cost was at least $750k.

I don't see steps. How do they get to the compartments on top?

Christmas in the US has really become a commercial endeavor. I find the true meaning of Christmas to be mostly nonexistent here these days. Just my opinion.
And let's not forget that to include everybody, we can't forget about the atheists. They might be offended by any religious symbol. They are part of our country too.

Looks like it does a good job. I wonder if it will catch on here.

Cornwall's new ladder truck has been delivered.

What is Winona Lake replacing? And I thought they liked Pierce as they had just "standardized" their fleet.
