The term n"nothing showing" is fine. Short sweet and to the point. It can be a helpful assesment in conjunction with other reports as well. Perhaps units operating at a 1sty. commercial taxpayer have a strong odor, an the OV Man gives a report from the rear that "nothing is showing", could it be buttoned up really tight? Could there be fire, just not visible, indicating that it is in an early decay (possibly very dangerous) phase?
Nothing showing is info, it means......there's nothing showing. At least for us, we wouldn't say "on scene, investigating", because they already know where on scene. Investigating, I'd think, is assumed. I don't think anyone's doing a cursory drive by.

You can not make turns in a private dwelling with a 2.5 try it you don't even need to flow water. And this fire was manageable before numb nuts decided to leave the front door open.

If you have 3 competent men on a line then a 2 1/2 isn't a problem. When you have guys that are having a hard time stretching a 1 3/4 line moving up to a 2 1/2 might be hard for them. They need a back to basic class just to go over the basics of stretching lines, choosing the right line for the conditions and building type, proper ventilation, door control and a few other things but mostly stretching a line an chasing kinks, kinks will reduce the amoun of prussure at the nozzle and it seems that there were numerous kinks.
Noticed in the video he was wearing a leather helmet I know it had nothing to do with his ability as a fireman but a lot people think it's a fashion show rather than justworrying about putting the fire out and having the nessecary skills to do such. Sorry just my pet peeve Even though I prefer my leather over my plastic helmet because it's more comfortable to me

    OK where to begin:
Flake the kinks out your hose. in the door is not the time for a nozzle change. Also the combination tip works just fine if thats what you got on the hose. Don't just stand around. 1:00 min mark: don't leave your helmet on the ground and walk away from it. After 2:00 mark, is that sound electric wires arcing or just random background sounds the mic is picking up? don't shoor water at a sparking wire. No communications about venting. I will assume from the looks of things that a inside attack was not going down so it is not like you were cordinationg with a hose team 2:51 min in. Don't do that with your nozzle, ever 3:40 min in. Don't ask for more pressure if you have 20 kinks in your line. Unkink your line. Try not to let the fire get away from you door control Fire - don't just stare at it, put it out. alot of non-fighting going on here. Choose the right size hose for the job. Where is your 2 1/2"? Big fire means big water. OK i know some of these are kinda knit picky but i just gave it a quick watching. I am not gonna say you guys suck or that was horrible cause everyone in the county is working short staffed and heavily rely on mutaul aid. Was this firemen a probie? was it his first job? These are all things that change the way we view these "mistakes" . I would expect a fresh out FF1 kid to not know everything there is to know. He is gonna stand around and wait to be told. A seasoned guy is gonna get it done and move with purpose and speed.
I hope this is seen as constructive. I tried to give real advice and insight. All we can see is a snippit of the whole picture. clearly there is alot going on in this house (as seen form the smoke coming from otehr parts of house).

This was my 16th year attending the Mamaroneck Parade in some form or another. And, as always, it was awesome. It really says a lot when you have thousands of thousands of people packing the parade route from start to finish.
Here are some of my more favorite photos I got at the Mamaroneck Village Firemens Parade this evening. There were tons of shots I missed as I was the crew for Engine 626. I have some more and will post time permitting.

40 years ago today I along with the rest of the Port Chester Fire Dept and the Greenwich FD responded to Gullivers restaurant and bar in Port Chester on the state line with Greenwich Conn. We lost 24 that night some my friends but saved over 100 also that night. I saw acts of bravery that to this day are unmatched by anyone. We gave it our best and for the guys on the front line that night we live with it and still do everyday.

Never grow complacent. Keep learning. The only constant is change. Even the best tactics and procedures need to be reevaluated when the community changes.

Rest in Peace Brothers. We will not forget your sacrifice!

It is an excellent look at complacency, traditions, change and leadership.

I borrowed a camera to get these pics of very impressive ladder placement by Yonkers FD.

The boom in pic one was lifted off the truck bed, over an engine and swung 3/4 way around, then elevated full up and over a tree before coming down. You can see it is resting on phone wires. The phone pole to the left prohibited a direct placement. The truck was backed up onto the sidewalk for this.

Pic two shows the fire bldg.

Pics 3,4, and 5 shows the other ladder. Note the rubber turn markers are both bent as the truck JUST made the alley. If you can't tell, this is a TOWER LADDER. Forger the rig, the BUCKET JUST fit into the alley. Also note the boom under the wires. Crew had to limbo under the wires, as gettng into the bucket would have been impossible with the rear of the rig corking up the alleyway.

When residents abandoned their attempt at fighting the fire with the standpipe line, they left the apartment door open allowing the fire to take over the public hallway. Yonkers firefighters went over the 19th floor roof to attack the fire from the balcony.

Two of my uncles came ashore in France on D-Day, one at Utah beach and one at Omaha. Both made it through unscathed. My father came over about a month later and along with my uncles that were already there joined in the liberation of France. A fourth uncle had been pretty severely wounded earlier in 1944 by a sniper at Anzio in Italy and had been sent home while a fifth was out in the Pacific preparing to invade the Japanese held island of Saipan about a week later.
By a twist of fate shortly after my father arrived in France he ran into one of my uncles as their units crossed paths. My uncle's unit was on their way back from the front as my father's unit was moving up to it. They were able to spend some time together and wish each other well but like most families none of them would see each other again until wars end some 10 months later.
D-Day June 6, 1944 remains the greatest seaborne invasion in history, and an achievement without equal. I can only stand in awe of the tremendous courage, fortitude and perseverance of not only my father and his brothers, but of all of those men of the "greatest generation" who, by their blood and sacrifice, fought and won the most destructive, costly and horrendous war in all of human history. They earned us the freedom we enjoy today so to all of them, living and dead, I say most sincerely...THANK YOU!!
    God Bless America!.
