  1. My point is for once I would like for someone to take a stand and maybe beef up security and let the other kids play instead of always giving in to a bunch of hooligans. Right away the first reaction is to cancel the "event" for safety concerns. Well why not do just the opposite in cases like this to send a message saying were not going to tolerate this kind of nonsense anymore. Problem with these kids nowadays is that they understand that they can pull this kind of crap and get away with it.

I was at the Ossining game. Security was very heavy and well above the norm for a typical game. The game was a little chippy but that was to be expected from a rivalry. The crowd, however, was perfectly fine. There was nothing out of the ordinary to provoke such an event later on. The Village Mayor of Ossining was even in attendance with his husband. I've been to games that were a lot more chippy and the crowd would be a lot rowdier.

  2. His football team just posted on their fb with details regarding services.

Wake will be at the Craft Memorial Home on Wednesday from 4-9 pm with the funeral on Thursday at 10 am at Holy Rosary. The address is 40 Leicester Street Port Chester, NY 10573

  3. Thats the only problem... :o

    See ya there

Gonna try to make it. I'm shooting 2-3 lacrosse games tomorrow in Danbury, CT so Golden's Bridge can be/is on my way home. I'll see how much memory I have left on my cards.

I wasn't able to make it. The 2nd game didn't start until 2:30 and by the time I was done (almost 24 gigs later), it wasn't worth heading over.

  4. RIP Chucky

I had the pleasure of knowing him and taking photos of him playing football when he played for a semi-pro team called the Westchester Warriors and at several fire parades over the last 2 years. He had just contacted me last week about his upcoming benefit and while he was having a bad day, things were still looking up for him as he had just recently received good news from his doctor(s) regarding his injuries.

  5. Don’t be alarmed if you see lots of emergency vehicles around Yonkers Raceway/Empire City Casino on Friday morning’s commute — it’s only a drill.

The Westchester County Department of Emergency Services announced today that county fire departments and the FDNY will be start a joint training exercise starting at 8 a.m. Friday with a mobilization at the Yonkers site. Fire departments from Eastchester, Fairview, Greenville, Hartsdale, Larchmont, Montrose Veterans Affairs, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Pelham, Pelham Manor, Scarsdale, White Plains and Yonkers, as well as the Department of Emergency Services are participating.

  6. Yonkers officials are investigating a system malfunction at the city’s 911 dispatch center that delayed the response Wednesday to a fire that heavily damaged a home on Crestwood Avenue.

A meeting between police and the fire department is taking place this morning, after the fire union president lodged a formal complaint. “When the call came in, it was a very small fire,” union president Barry McGoey told The Journal News. “There would be about a 3-minute response to location if the fire was transmitted right away. The first two responding companies would have arrived to a very small fire. Instead, it appears there was at least a 10-minute delay because the system wasn’t working. By the time they got there, the whole structure was fully involved in fire.”

  7. Ossining's horns are still active. The DTMF tones after our paging tones designate the "box" signal that is tapped out.

On clear summer nights I can hear the horn from the Grasslands Reservation in Valhalla, when they tap out.

I'm in a valley and if the wind blows in the right direction, I can hear Briarcliff's tones go off.

  8. Amphibious vehicles have been around for years. I used to know someone who had an 8 wheeled argo/utv. They're pretty cool and can go from land to water and vice versa with ease. It used to look like the vehicle in this image but unlike this quadski, I'm not sure you could go all that fast.

The quadski is a 1 seater so I'm not entirely sure how this would help in the fire service.

Edit: Here's some specs of that vehicle. http://www.argoatv.nl/8x8response.html

  11. About 50 pounds of methamphetamine was seized from a boardinghouse on Church Street in what the Drug Enforcement Administration is calling the biggest such bust in state history.

Two people were arrested in the bust, which netted an amount that arrived from the West Coast with a street value of $800,000, DEA spokeswoman Erin Mulvey.
