Have you asked your doctor(s) what they'd recommend? Might want to try that if you haven't.

Yes and why are they so high? In 90% of the US the state pays the medicaid bill. NYS mandates the counties pay for it through county tax. over 70% of the county tax goes to that alone.
60-70% of the taxes go to the school districts and at least in my districts case the voters have approved double digit increases almost every year for the past dozen years. The same taxpayers complain about how high there taxes are.
And the PARKWAYS shut down because they were all deliberatly built in flood plains, hense they all have RIVER in the name of the road (Hutchenson River Parkway, Sawmill River Parkway, Bronx River Parkway). If you "fix" them you will flood villages and peoples homes instead.
Yes we should rethink things, but everytime we suggest a change (like consolidation) everyone screams not in my city, town, village.
We need to also change the way government is structured in NY, but no one is willing to do it.

Yet westchester has the highest taxes in the country and pay nearly $7k a year more on taxes on average but every highway shuts down every rain storm. Time for westchester to rethink some things.

I wrote about the exact same concept in the last topic on the wrong way driver on the Tappan Zee. I have even talked to NYS Thruway Audthority. The only idea the state has is do en-large the wrong way signs, or post a overhead sign indicating wrong way/ Due to cuts in state budget cuts, this will never happen. My concern is you never heard of these type of accidents years ago, maybe 1 or 2, but never this many and it always seems to be a underlying condition of the driver. As a first responder I have seen my one too many accidents of this nature and it always seems to have impairment involved. I sure hope alcohol or drugs were not the cause of this young womans life, and thank GOD the other driver survived ( Position of Weed ), so she gets the STUPID award!
My uncle was ran over and killed onthe sidewalk of Fordam Road in the Bronx in front of my Aunt by a drunk driver. My family never recovered from this. I have 0 tolerance for Impared Drivers or Stupid Drivers.

got a few of the graphics today for approval, the ribbons are for our Assistant Chief Jason Whaley, 36 who passed away early this year from cancer, Jill Caldarelli, 55 life member of both the fire company and rescue squad and was a current board of director member and Randy Ackerman, 57, life member was a current board member and past President and brother of Jill Caldarelli, they both passed away over the last few months. It's been a tough year for a small department like ours and as the truck committee chairperson and past Chief I wanted to ensure that the three members that passed during the construction of the new engine were not forgotten. Also a graphic logo I designed to honor all of our members that have passed away prior. The graphics were done by RJ Marx from Appleton, WI., they did the blue beast above as well.

Are they going to keep it as is or are they going to re-paint it to their colors and put their decals on the truck?

I can't think of any situation where a fire investigator would need to get to a scene in an emergency.
"Quick, get here fast to investigate this fire," said no one ever...
But then again, people still respond lights and siren to sit in someone else's fire station, so what do I know...

How much faster would an investigation start if they responded lights and siren,10 minutes, 30, 45 ?
Would it make that much of a difference in the investigation?

So...they buy this brand new, multi-million dollar piece of sophisticated equipment just a handful of years ago, then ground it because they don't want to pay the pilots to fly it? Brilliant.

A buddy of mine at the county says that they couldn't fly because all the pilots have been reassigned to patrol for the summer to reduce overtime. He also said overtime is out of control so it ain't working.
Way to go Westchester, ground your chopper during the busiest time of the year so you can claim to be saving money. Smart move! Remember this stupidity on election day.

I personally feel that we are trying the case based on hear say and assumptions. We have read and heard that they had 4 drinks among all 6, they had multiple drinks, they were all drunk, they were all sober, there were enough light, there were not enough lights, it met the USCG standards, the standards are too low, he should have known the barge was there, and so on. These are all fine but only those 6 people on the boat that night know the truth. We as trained professionals should know better than to draw conclusions based on assumptions and innuendos. To assume that he saw the barge when he moored his boat is to assume we know the last time he was on the river. To assume any of the BACs is to assume we know the results when they have yet to be returned. The only item that does stand out loudly to me is that the groom and the father of the deceased bride are rising to the defense of the operator which makes me wonder if this story has begun to take on a life of it own and we are being to quick to condemn and judge. Remember we are a country built on innocent until proven guilty even though in the media to opposite seems to appear to be the case. By the way I am in no way defending or condemning the operator, I am simply advocating sitting back and awaiting the fact, not the hear say and rumors.
On a separate note, KUDOS to the units involved in this job. While and S&R operation is difficult having it coupled with the emotional aspect of locating a bride to be and giving a family closure just weeks before her wedding in itself takes it toll. Once again, great job by all involved.

Hoist and Air/Sea rescue or not, any aerial support, particularly during night time operations, is a big help. I would imagine, maybe Helicopper can shed some light on this, that the WCPD airship has FLIR. NYSP and NYPD Aviation were on scene for the initial night time search.

Meanwhile the Coast Guard completed their investigation into the barges and said they had adequate lighting. All lighting on the barges were up to standard. The company who owns the barges have stated they will add more lighting to the barges.
I'm with some of you who say let law enforcement do their thing before we jump to conclusions. The story has already taken many twists and turns.

Its kind of the same logic that Connecticut applies to their entire State Police fleet. No markings somehow makes you incognito, except for the giant pushbar, and unique license plate suffixes, cruise lights with light up "STATE POLICE" in the middle of your lightbar, etc.
Unless you're from WAY out of state or pulled over by the non-descript Traffic Squad cars, there is literally no reason you should ever be caught off guard by CSP's unmarked cars. Now, there's a few "reasons" people argue as to why CSP has unmarked cars: Some argue its related to resale value, some argue Troopers don't want their take-home vehicles marked (Yes, every CT State Trooper has a take-home vehicle.) Use your own judgement there, I see pros and cons to both.
Unmarked cars only work on the terribly unobservant among our population. That said, they should work perfectly against the people NYSP is looking to catch.
Also, I must ask, does ANYONE have a phone without a speaker nowadays? Is that even a thing anymore? Why do I still see people talking with iPhone headphones and/or holding their phone next to their heads?

It's really not difficult at all to spot an unmarked car these days. Buying all new $40,000 vehicles or however much they are at taxpayer expense just so they can sit a couple inches higher is a complete waste of money and one of the dumbest things I've heard of since being apart of this site.
