With irresponsible .propaganda continuing by those who should know better, no police officer anywhere in America is safe.

Today in New Rochelle the " I Can't Breath" rally and march was postponed. I'll tell you can't breath---Those two cops in Brooklyn

They are already showing up at the make shift memorial on the site of the assassination to be interviewed by the press. never let a tragedy go unused.

Why are people so surprised this happened when you hear months of anti=police rhetoric from our elected officals, talking heads on TV and members of the Civil Rights Industry ( no longer a movement but a business),now some deranged person took all this in and took action. A similar event occurred in Harlem at Freddy's when a nut job listened to the banter ( from some of the same characters we had involved now) about white interlopers running stores in Harlem and took action and about seven people died in the hostage situation and resulting fire. When the language gets nasty and continuous on the 24 hour news cycle someone out there may go further as we just saw.

This reinforces the need to check out your personal gear and the equipment on the rig and the vehicle itself at the beginning of each shift

It has been my experience with the expression "no other fires will occur in the vacated district so what is the rush ?" My answer to that is, if things. didn't happen that couldn't happen. I wouldn't have had a job.

Sadly there are now requirements to be a Chief in most of NYS but be comforted to know to be a licensed barber you need 1020 hours not mention the beauticians license and their training.
So you might be safer in a barber shop or beauty salon, then with the incident commander

On the career side we have the mandated 229 hour training, which more is added to it. then the mandated First Line Officers Program hosted by FDNY, which is also mandated by NYS Law. Then with the most important rank it stops dead and their is no Chiefs Training set up similar to the First Line Program. Some may argue for on-line programs but it is not the same.
This something the OFPC should be exploring, way over due.

24 hour shift alone is just a shift, it is not designed to solve all the problems Boston thinks it will.

Found out the hard way that Greene County was on 46.26 while we were responding to the North Country on Mutual Aid during the Ice Storm many moons ago. The boys thought they were well out of range of our radios and had some banter that was most interesting to the unsuspecting

  22. PHIL78 liked a post in a topic by kinkchaser in Why Open Cabs?
Open cabs were pretty funny if you thought about it, windshield with windshield wipers on both outside and inside, controls, radios getting soaked and in bad weather trying to look up information on maps and binders was impossible. Closed cabs put old timers in a snit when they had difficulty using mirrors Guys on the truck felt the enclosed cabs hindered their ability to quickly spot the aerial to position on the fire building. But if you had a lengthy job during a snow, you had to shovel out the cab to go back home. ( unless someone had the idea to cover with a tarp) Of course this design started to be phased out in the 60's when folks went totally nuts
