I could be wrong but this is already a series it's called "COPS".  and plenty of others have been done.   People either support or us or they don't.  No TV show will change opinions.  And even the ones that support cops don't understand and until you work the streets you never will.

Nice job by Rye stepping up and hiring 2.  Slowly the 8 will be in better departments with better leadership.  How many are now employed in new departments?

Looks like Rye has picked up 2 of the firefighters who were laid off.

Seriously you are upset over language on a fire ground /tac radio?  As long as it's not over main communications talk to each other however you want.  On my jobs tac channel we speak anyway which way to get the job done or get a point across. As long as FCC and scanner buffs listening everywhere don't hear it who cares.  This sounds like more PC BS that doesn't need to be brought up or have a topic thread open about it.  Nice video though hope everyone got home safe.

My thoughts exactly.   I am no expert on pump operations and the likes,  and I am sure its not the same amount of pressure as a pressure washer but its got to be close and can peel that paint off.   but hey its just a million dollars in tax payer money.  And who is on standby for all those tower ladders or does each FD out in LI have 2 or 3 ladders and 10 chiefs cars?

We have been told not to use brushes to wash the truck as it can harm the finish. What is the possibility that a master stream will damage the paint?

I think you should move over one lane whether it's  PD/ Fire/ EMS or tow truck operating or if someone is changing a flat tire.  Where I start going nuts on the volleys and blue lights is because in the past 10-15 years the younger generation of volunteers seem to go overboard with lights.  Tailgating people and blowing red lights and stop signs.  Sure people should let a volunteer pass WHEN ITS SAFE.  But guys have to calm down thinking they have a right to ignore vehicle and traffic laws.

You can still have lights all over your personal vehicle but no one has to pull over for you or I should say let you pass.   It's still a courtesy.  DWC above explained it best.

The new law has nothing to do pulling out of the way for volunteers that are responding to an emergency (that still remains a courtesy on part of other drivers).  The new addition to the "move-over" law is directed towards volunteers that are ON SCENE already attending to an emergency.  Essentially, the addition in the law adds that if you see blue or green flashing lights on the side of the road you must do your best to safely move away from them as you would for red and white or amber lights (as already existed in the law).

PLEASE DO NOT MISINTERPRET THIS CHANGE FOR RESPONDING TO EMERGENCIES.  Continue to drive safely, obey all vehicle traffic laws, and just be safe in general!

This is not a new topic...but it hits close to home.  I live in a 6 story, fire-proof multiple dwelling.  This means...there are no fire escapes.  If a fire were to occur on the 4th, 5th or 6th floors, a resident could potentially be blocked from their front door....the only means of egress.  Whats the other way out?  An aerial ladder.  What good is that aerial ladder when its 20 minutes away at a parade?  Maybe farther!  My local FD has several engines and one, single ladder.  Why does that ladder, the only means of high-rise rescue, EVER leave town?  To win a trophy?  To show off?  To look cool?

If there were ever a tragedy, I'd expect those responsible to see criminal charges.

Im all for parades.  Im all for tradition.  Our volunteers give time and these kind of events are joyful and proper compensation for dedication.  We should have fun and maintain freindly relationships with neighboring dept's through social activities.

However, our first mission is life-safety.  If a town has 3 or 4 engines and 1 ladder....um....the ladder doesnt go to parades.  Smarten up, send an engine.

There wasnt a need to include a dept. name, because this dept. is not unique.  The list of offenders is long, sadly.

Hey AFS that was the most ridiculous statement. I never accused anyone of looking like another agency or services vehicle.  What I stated was volunteers putting multiple blue lights everywhere in their car.  Here in NYS the law states 1 light.  I see guys putting multiple lights. 1 in the window, the headliner and front grille.  Rear window (why I don't know) Further more no one has to move out of the way for a volunteer.  It's a courtesy and yes I think people should move over and let them pass.  But you can't go through red lights or tailgate those who don't want to move. Also doesn't mean volunteers can go 50mph in a 30mph zone.  No need for it and you have no siren so someone possibly crossing the street or a car making a turn in distance has no idea who your are.  That's my point. State law says 1 light so have 1 light.  And the excuse lights draw so little power so you can add more is a Ridiculous argument.  1 light enforcement should be done by Chiefs.

NYC buses no longer have the blue flashing. They were forced to change it.  Volunteers with 1 blue light LMAO.  More like how can I make my car look like a unmarked police vehicle with lights in the headliner, grille, running board, rear window etc..  Blue, blue/ white. It's something that should be enforced.
