I disagree, whats on the street is public for everyone, what's inside your home is private. Everything inside of your home is not in public view and shouldn't become so just because you called the fire department.

How do privacy concern play into this?
I know the fire service is not obliged to the same privacy standards as EMS, but how would your community feel if footage of their home is posted to youtube? I know I wouldn't be happy.

I was with PFDescue47 today at the services. The FDNY has always been great during the tough times after loss of a loved member of the service. Unfortunately they are so great at times like this due all the practice they have had over the years. They were excellent in including members of Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department, and Pleasantville Volunteer Ambulance Corps in the services last night and today. I recognized some faces last night and today from jobs in the Bronx, and I was glad to see that everyone had great memories of Lenny, it's a great reflection of the man he was. Even FDNY Commissioner Sal Cassano's speech at the church was spot on, describing Lenny and all his great qualities. Boston EMS sent their Honor Guard,as well as representatives of Mountain Rescue Aspen, and the turnout at the church was awesome. One LT mentioned it was the largest funerals she had seen in 10 years. As the family left the church we were 2 deep for almost two complete city blocks. Lining up as the family left the church:

    Lenny, until we meet again.

Very saddened by this news - from those that i know that knew him, there has been nothing but good to say. Reflecting on awful events like this i often think of this quote:
"In the final analysis, the question of why bad things happen to good people transmutes itself into some very different questions, no longer asking why something happened, but asking how we will respond, what we intend to do now that it happened."
At work i'll strive to be a better provider, think twice about being grumpy when a run comes over during meal or for something that seems trivial. At home, ill take special care to make sure those close to me know i love them. Thats the least i can do.
RIP Paramedic Joyner and thank you for all that you did in the short time you were here.

I know that I never met you Lenny, but from what everyone has said about you seemed like a truly great guy. I'm sure that the FDNY EMS Station 7 world will not be the same with out you. I know just like everyone else here, that you are going to be missed by not only the people that knew you, but also the people that you have inspired and saved over the years. We all know that you are not with us anymore, but you will forever be in our hearts. May god be with you always, and may you rest in eternal life. John 3:16 " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life". Rest In Peace fallen brother 5-5-5-5 has be rang out for you. To all your friend's and family my sincere condolences. Corinthians 5:1 "For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens".

So sad the outcome was not better but at least they found him. We must thank the responders and searchers that took the time to look and recover him. I only knew Lenny from here but he seemed to be a very nice guy. Rest in peace brother. For his family and friends stay strong I'm sure he would want you to be.

Interesting idea, how would you go about it? A lot of programs I know are incorporated into schools and cub/girl scout programs. Not by any means bashing this idea, just wondering how you or others might go about continued fire education for adults. Maybe as part of a homeowners insurance program or agreement? Or maybe like some auto insurance companies do with defensive driving classes etc., a reduced home insurance rate for taking classes in fire safety or such?

Well, can we probably agree that all the members of this forum do not drive by there regularly? So, Prucha, I for one appreciate the note.

A lot of jumping all over people recently for posting pretty innocuous comments and questions. What gives?

No, that was on route 9 and is a completely different bar. The Firehouse Grille was / will be once again on Welcher Ave and Washington Street in Peekskill.
Sorry I don't drive on that street every single day? There wasn't a thread, and the last thread about the subject is archived. I know for a fact there are people who don't live in Peekskill, or drive around Peekskill often at all that would like to know the info so I figured I'd post a topic

Again, an old comic that I have used over and over from Mr. Paul Combs for just about every issue in the fire service still speaks for itself.
My chief is female and has been in office for 3 years now and will probably still be in office for another 3 years or more, she does an excellent job, very skilled and knowledgeable and a great person. We have 2 other females in the department as well, one is lieutenant of the fire police and one is an EMT as well and both are great at what they do. It shouldnt matter what a persons sex or race or color is, just what they know and what kind of personality they have.

Kinda like asking if you have an issue with female firefighters. The answer is unequivocally not at all. Some of the best firefighters I know are women as have the ones who went on to be chief been some of the best chiefs I have known.
I thought this cartoon was very fitting for our discussion here.

I couldn’t agree more. My husband is a Solider. One of his friends was recently killed; the said part is he had to hear about it through a friend on Facebook, not in the news.
Thank you to all who serve and have served!
