  1. Wow! We were going to go Christmas shopping that way, but opted for Kingston...
  2. I hope the Brothers from Yonkers pull through this one...I hear it will be effecting some EMTBravo members. Makes for a nice holiday.... FTM - PTB - KTF!
  3. The first time I did the rope slide with my Gemtor I did the same thing...Operator error..thank goodness for the the redundant back up. I agree 1000 percent that at least quarterly training is very important to these survival techniques...we had discussed making a mock window frame to put on the roof of the fire house for ladder ops, but it could be made in a fashion to double as a bail out window. Hmmmm...... The new station in Poughkeepise has a slick set up in the apparatus bay. There are some "window" openings used for this very purpose. 5. I foresee them closing school...just "in case"...they have already cancelled the winter pageant in Millbrook.. Awesome....my day off, cooped up with a sick infant and a rambunctious 6 year old! Boy are we gonna bug the s*** out of Mommy... Good day to head to the basment with a case of Coors Light and play trains!
  6. I am all set - thanks all.
  7. Wondering where you are getting your quilted jackets from in the area?
  8. Could someone be so kind to explain the rank/status/role of the "Deputy" Chief in some Westchester vollunteer departments please? As I understand it, it is a position for PAST Chiefs, with all of the "benefits" afforded a Chief Officer? I am not sure I undertstand the whole concept, and I am pretty sure I wouldn't be a fan of it. I am used to the Deputy being #2, second in Command, one step below Chief, Car 2,etc. An actual rank that should be moved through before Chief. Thanks in advance.
  9. It seems like the junior officers, ie; Captain down would find it tough to get any time/experience under their belt as an IC? Doesn't this make the transition to a Chief role more difficult?
  10. Thats my thing..and I mean NO disrespect, but I don't think we are backwards at all....I have nothing but respect for a Past Chief, hell, I still call them "Chief" years after they are out, but I personally do not like what I percieve the system to be, which is why I am curious.
  11. hell..I still have huge leaf piles on my grass! I hate snow!
  12. Hahahhaaaa No doubt a great job by the aggressive brothers in the Village.... Obviously an effective use of mutual aid to ensure firefighter safety.
