Barry while I understand why the law is written the way it is I don't feel it should preclude volunteer departments from appointing a qualified MTO' if a department wishes to step up thier training. If anything you would have someone with the criteria to conduct the training.
On another note maybe if FASNY spent more time and effort lobbying to change that law as I requested to them years ago than fighting the cops having blue lights on the back of thier cars we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Thank you all for the input....very disturbing to see the games they try and play up there with money that doesn't belong to them...I didn't drag myself into where I work for the last 24 years to have some lunatic decide he wants to build a bridge with the money we worked for..

I am all for peaceful protest and freedom of speech. I am not for blanant disregard for the law and for those who are trying to uphold it. Many of these protestors are simply criminals with an agenda. Besides....they should be protesting Congress along with Fannie May and Freddie Mac who continie to soak the taxpayers...

Brother I agree with this but what does local staffing have to do with an animal rescue team run by the county or any team for that matter? I fail to see what the issue is.

I agree 100% and knowing the people that make up that organization it does not surprise me that they would take up this task.

What happens when an American woman who is in a muslim country goes out in public? She has to cover her face...correct? It is the law of thier land..end of story. Why is it any different here? Enough!!

It has proven that private prisons do not work such as the Immigration facility in New Jersey which had numerous problems. You are not going to get the same level of service as you do a sworn correction officer/deputy from a $8.00/hour security guard.

I feel this should of been the standard from day one when the change was made in the training. Glad to see this happening now.

You allready created an argument. Now support your reasons as to why you disagree with how things were handled.

Besides charging the kid which I believe should be done how about holding the powers to be at the "home" responsible? Seems to me based on some of the posts here there is a management problem at that "home".

1980....long coats, 3/4 boots, plastic helmets, rubber gloves, plectron. Turnoout gear not issued just on the rigs...first come first serve. Rode the tailboard with no straps. Scott 2's. Allthough things were done a bit backwards at times it was good times. No service awards or other perks. Rookies did what they were told without question. There was a strong brotherhood. No drama, no non-sense. You got your b**lls broken and took it. You wanted to be there and be part of the family.

Very nice pictures. Brings back memories when I used to coach little league when my son played. I used to look forward to the kick-off parade. One of the few community events left in Amercia.

Mark Butler runs an excellent program. I highly recommend it for anyone who has any kind of decision making authority. I wish this course could be taught on a local level.

Officer Osso suffered horrific injuries. This perp, no matter how troubled he is a perp who not only critically wounded a cop but also put other lives in jeopardy as well. This perp deserves more than 7 years in fact should do twice that. We have to stop justifying why people do things and make them accountable for thier actions.
