  5. ryan mac was what i was called for short in school and im an emt.
  6. in regards to the color of turnout gear, i know that some agencies do not use a tan color because the ems agency uses tan turnout gear at fires and this will help you tell the difference between fire and ems at a scene. i believe this is try in NYC. i once heard it referred to as when you look for ems you "scan for the tan".
  7. I believe that Harrison PD might have also had station wagons back in the late '70s earily '80s, but I could be mistaken.
  8. I am currently trying to recertify my NYS EMT by using CME's. It is required that I must take at least 3 hours of training in WMD/Terrorism. Does anyone know where I can find this training, I searched online and did not come up with very much. Thank you for all your help.
  9. I think the Trooper did the right thing. What a moron, with his family in the car. And unless I'm mistaken, unless your in a marked vechile and/or running red emergency warning lights, you must obay all traffic laws including speed. That guys reckless action could have then created a need for 2 or more drivers, the second one to transport him and his family.
  10. In my personal opinion, I have np porblem with career firefighters and career ems AS LONG AS there is still a spot for volunteers. I began volunteering on an ambulance 3 1/2 yrs ago. In that time I have changed alot. I began when I was only 16 yrs old. It helped me mature, before I began volunteering I had no motivation with anything and had no real work ethic and was a slacker in school. Volunteering on the ambulance has given me a hard work ethic and helped me mature very much. I know it sounds corny but it helped make me who I am today and is still changing me. I has taught me very important life skills like working as a team. I have also seen this change in my brother who has only been volunteering for 1/2 yr. In my opinion I see no difference between volunteers and career, they both are doing what they love to do. I think that volunteers are an important part of each community and that every community should make an effort to keep there departments opened to volunteers.
  11. What is the Westchester Emergency Volunteer Reserves? I have never heard of that before.
  12. That is unbelievable, he got arrested for protecting rescue workers. I personally feel that on all highway and major roadway MVAs that a fire apparatus should block off a lane providing a buffer zone. I was on a highway MVA last week and when we got on-scene there was a fire rescue acting as a blocker, then as we were about to begin removing the driver from the vechile the rescue left the scene and we were now standing in traffic. cars continued to drive by and we even got some dirty looks from passing cars. I would have really liked to have had a blocker at that point.
  13. I agree, enough is enough, more lights does not equal better. The LEDs are brighter and when you have alot of them it becomes blinding espicially at night. Also another thing I dont like is white or clear lights in the back of the vechile (like in the back-up lights) because at night it is blinding. Just a side note, your car/truck might look sweet and cool with all your lights in it but how sweet is it gonna look when its wrecked cause someone was blinded and hit it.
  14. Good job man, great video. Can't wait to see what you make next.
  15. That is just way too funny weather it is or isn't real.
  16. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against bringing a serial rapist to justice but 'Dog' still has to follow the law. His mind was in the right place but his tactics were wrong. He coulda damaged the case by breaking the law like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy 'Dog' caught the guy, and I'm a little upset that Mexico issued a warrant for him but you have to remember he did break the law.
  17. wow, thats a lot of milk. how did they end up cleaning the milk outta that river?
  18. Talk about having a bad day, that guy just couldn't catch a break.
  19. At my corp the volunteers need to volunteer at least 24hrs a month inorder to be an active member.
  20. God bless his family and friends. Rest in peace.
  21. when was the last time that someone was put to death in NYS? i hope that they fry bucky.
  22. I think taht black gloves might scare some patients. Also if your on a scene at night you wont be able to see any blood or other fluids that you might get on your hands. That will also make the uniform too black, you will look like the grim reaper walking into someones home in all black and with black gloves. For now the plain old white gloves are great for me.
  23. I just watched that NRFD video posted on EMTBravo.com and it was GREAT. Props to NRFDTLBUFF on making it. It was sick.
  24. may we never forget that what happened that day and how america responded. god bless america and god bless all those who lost there lives that day.
  25. Thank god they caught him. Now he will sit in jail for the rest of his life which is where he belongs. They should go for the death penalty with him.
