At PEMO3, yes New Jersey does. They have the Kidde Neptune Pumping system. There are three (3) complete units situated in the state. There is one in Union County, one in Gloucester County & the last is in Morris County. System consist of three basic units. The first in the roll off mounted Kidde pump capable of 5000 - 8000 GPM. The next is the 12-inch hose on hydraulic reels mount on flatbed trucks. The last is the Iron Man monitor capable of 5000 GPM discharge.
The Union County system was in use a Seaside with the Morris County system on location standing by incase it was needed.

That would require a regional approach to planning and training. We would rather spend our emergency service dollars on big stations to house expensive apparatus that will never have the staffing to get out the door.

I found an article on the Neptune "Super Pumper System" in Gloucester County, NJ, (http://www.firefightingnews.com/article.cfm?articleID=23865) which is draft capable and comes with a hose tender with 1 mile of 12 inch flexible supply line. It is also foam capable at up to 10,000 gpm. Anyone know was this considered or deployed considering the issues with main pressure? (Not Monday morning quarterbacking just asking a question)

A moment of silence is generally a better way to show your respect and pray. Sirens are for parades.

Let us not forget 9/11/01. Let us not forget the 343 Fire Fighters who gave the ultiment sacrfice on this tragic day. 12 years later lets sound our sirens across this nation to reflect and pray! Please.. Never forget!

Not really. If I report "Smoke Showing" to 60 Control, they asknowledge it with" "10-4 Smoke Showing"
But if I report "Working Fire" I automatically get a 3rd Engine, FAST, EMS, Chief, and relocating units.

    What defines a working fire?
When members of the department show up who you haven't seen in months for training, meetings, etc. and they are the first ones on the rigs and there throwing didicated members off. That's when you know it a working fire.

Right on! There is no such thing as a "working car fire." At most it's a fully involved car fire. Two or three cars really ripping in a shopping center parking lot? Working fire. Now let's put that fully involved car fire in an underground garage of a 6-story multiple dwelling. You might need a second alarm to evacuate the building because a fire door didn't close. Then, it might take you the rest of your shift just to find the car that's on fire out of a hundred cars. Your TIC helps, but it still takes you a while.
Firefighting is more an art than a science.

We've seen the, popping up around the Bronx on everything from warehouses to we construction and private houses. When on Building Inspection duty, company's are adding the panels existence to CIDS and also noting the existence and location of the shutoff, battery backups and generators.
They do preclude vertical venting and we do not use them as a substantial object for roof rope evolutions. The most important thing to remember is that the panel is always producing electricity. You can disconnect it from the grid. There is a knife switch, usually by the meter. However, the panels and wires connecting them are always live.

Ossining FD deserves credit for throwing the ladders as well. They're among a small percentile around the county that has strong Truck Company presence at a fire scene - whether it's throwing portable ladders or getting the Truck into position. I actually missed this fire, but can tell you I am proud of the guys for always doing the right thing.
Ironically, Monday night's FAST drill was a review of throwing ladders...

    - Honestly, in my opinion we like to have a heads up of whats coming in and if we need to move people in order to open up a bed it's a lot easier to do it before you get there. Calling in a report doesn't necessarily change the treatment, but it can allow us to be a little bit more prepared for what is coming in, regardless of whether the patient is critical or not.

If you look really close from the right street angle L-15 is parked inside all the way to the back wall.

Monday morning quarterbacking a job becomes second nature but this is one of those times that one needs to look at the big picture. This "EDP" was armed and dangerous. If they decided to wait it out and in turn a trooper, civilian or other responder was injured or killed both the Record and this site would be asking the question "should the troopers have used deadly force and terminated the scenario sooner". These people are classified as EDP sometimes based on history and other times based on current actions but either was they are unpredictable and difficult by nature. People forget that the term EDP mean "emotional disturbed person" not crazy or insane person so the term EDP fits here.

I have shown up many times and found that even if you called it never made any difference in the time to getting a bed, unless it was a code or a trauma alert.
I've had ambualnces call, get to the ER and wait up to an hour to get a bed.

NYC you don't call in at all unless its a bad trauma job and then you have dispatch give the note to the ER and or cardiac arrest or something else high level priority. If its a routine BLS job why call, cell service isn't the best in northern Westchester and the radios can be hit or miss... the thing is it needs to be turned on at the hospital to actually work. But that's something else all together. But it typical doesn't decrease the time a patient has to stay on the stretcher and get into a room in my experience, where it should.

I have to agree with PEMO, I never really grasped why every call there has to be a notification. Perhaps I too am use to working in the City. I remember one of my first calls here in Westchester was an MVA in Phleps drive way, we pull into the ER and the nurse starts screaming at us that we didnt call in blah blah blah. I told her it happened in there drive way. She said it doesn't matter you still have to call. So I stepped outside and called from my cell phone and gave my report, they asked for an ETA I said the pt was already in there ER. I was told by the nurse that I was a smart a**.

Why should EMS be concerned about billing getting the face sheet done. Your job should end at the patient hand off and not be concerned with the billing. Believe me they will find a way to bill for that $40 asprin with out you calling in initials and DOB.
