Why should EMS be concerned about billing getting the face sheet done. Your job should end at the patient hand off and not be concerned with the billing. Believe me they will find a way to bill for that $40 asprin with out you calling in initials and DOB.

Follow the KISS method. Age, Sex, Nature, Obvious injuries or complaints, brief v/s and GS score for trauma patients and interventions in place e.g. O2, immobilized, etc. These basics should give enough of a picture for the ER to prepare. If they need anymore after this they will ask. You can always CYA by ending with "Do you require any further?"

While I do agree that the information required is extremely ER specific I disagree with age not being relevant is a report to know how to set up. The approach to a 8 y/o is different to that of an 80 y/o. I also believe that hospitals in Westchester are way too anal about needing to be notified about every unit bringing a patient. I agree with the "hot" patients needing notification but do they really need to know that granny is coming in with the runs x 3 days, etc. Maybe I am still in the NYC mode where the only time a hospital was notified is if you needed staff and a room waiting, e.g. cardiac arrest, GSW, multi-trauma, active labor, or something unusual requiring resources beyond the norm. The thought process was the others were triaged in the ED in "non-crisis' mode and placed as needed, bed, chair, waiting room.

Orange County's policy is that if an EMS agency or fire department misses a call, for the remainder of the twelve hour period (6A-6P) or (6P-6A), the mutual aid agency is toned out at initial dispatch
Maybe Westchester should adopt something similar

FAST, RIT, MAT, 2-OUT, RESCUE TEAM, OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT MUST BE IN PLACE WHENEVER THERE ARE MEMBERS IN AN ILDH.
That's not my opinion, it's OSHA's and it's the law. You are not allowed to put your RIT to work without replacing them with another RIT first. OSHA doesn't particularly care exactly how you accomplish this but they are sticklers on that you accomplish this with no gaps.
This tip might help you as to what should be established on the fireground:
Years ago I learned the "20 minute rule." If on arrival you expect members to be operating for more than 20 minutes to gain complete control of the fire, you must call for more resources. why 20 minutes? Because that's how long an air pack lasts.
Its' not rocket science(although there are times you do need rocket science). It's more like baseball. You need 9 players on the field plus guys on the bench that can go in at any time AND play the position they are going in to fill.

No matter how many times the topic of provision of FAST is discussed in these forums, I still see many who seem to believe that FAST must be provided by a special 'team' (like haz mat, tech rescue or fire investigation). Like it or not, FAST is part of every firefighter's duties. Any engine, truck, rescue company or squad must be fully capable of being assigned as the FAST when arriving at an incident and functioning in that role should a firefighter get into trouble and require immediate assistance. This training should be part of the process of becoming certified as a firefighter.

Greenburgh PD Radio shops and DPW Street Lighting division recently moved from a cramped space at the Water Dept. shops on Knollwood Rd. to the Greenburgh DPW shops on Old Sprain Rd in Hartsdale, where a space was created just for them. Actually, the traffic sign and marking division got pushed over to make the space, which squeezed the Mack's in the garage annex a little tighter.
This facility allows considerably more space for the talented and well equipped staff to work. Greenburgh PD and EMS does all their own car outfitting, striping, radios, repairs and bodywork in house.

Don't worry, there's still plenty of space for the Macks. (most of the new Granites were all out at the time of photo.)

Yes and why are they so high? In 90% of the US the state pays the medicaid bill. NYS mandates the counties pay for it through county tax. over 70% of the county tax goes to that alone.
60-70% of the taxes go to the school districts and at least in my districts case the voters have approved double digit increases almost every year for the past dozen years. The same taxpayers complain about how high there taxes are.
And the PARKWAYS shut down because they were all deliberatly built in flood plains, hense they all have RIVER in the name of the road (Hutchenson River Parkway, Sawmill River Parkway, Bronx River Parkway). If you "fix" them you will flood villages and peoples homes instead.
Yes we should rethink things, but everytime we suggest a change (like consolidation) everyone screams not in my city, town, village.
We need to also change the way government is structured in NY, but no one is willing to do it.

Yet westchester has the highest taxes in the country and pay nearly $7k a year more on taxes on average but every highway shuts down every rain storm. Time for westchester to rethink some things.

We have 58 Fire depts. in Westchester and many have trouble getting enough trained firefighters on scene. Many have more equipment then they can ever manage to get out the door and this situation puts the public & firefighters in danger.
I suspect nothing will change until a multi fatality fire AND a lawsuit against the fire dist /municipality and/or the chief(s).
Its really sad that depts are not willing to solve this problem.

I don't think there is a call that we have that does not leave some level of impression, good, bad or indifferent on us. It is why we do what we do. Some calls we remember because of the positive impact we were able to make while other we spend a lifetime struggling to forget for the impact that they make on us.
